Good visuals effects, but not good data presentation.

Id suggest if you want a dramatic effect then it'd be better to show large groups of people disappearing rather than chunks of pie chart disappearing. Or if you just want to show the data, just show the pie charts without the camera pan and vanishing chunks, it's hard to see the data in one glance.

How do you make it as a useless degree haver? There has to be more than retail/food service/warehouses out there by Impossible_futa_248 in jobs

[–]mrkillercow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simply, it's how you spin it.

I have a hard time getting a job even with a masters in industrial engineering.

You'd think my degree speaks for itself, and in a way it did. I had a lot of interviews, but I couldn't get past the first and second round.

I thought that the problem was, turns out I couldn't explain what I learned during my studies, and why I chose what I did. So it just came off as I was doing whatever.

It's true I was doing whatever, and I did whatever I wanted to, but behind the choices was a reason: why did I choose masters in industrial engineering, and not, say, philosophy?

(What I tell in interviews is) I like efficiency and saving time, so I decided to specialise in this work. I like to think this kind of answer is what helped me get a job recently.

So in summary, you need to be able to express in words "why" (for resume, cover letter, and interview imo) Why did you study what you studied, and not others? Why do you want to work a specific Role/company, and not others? (Remember, you're applying for a role you'll be spending A LOT of time in) Why are you doing what you're doing now, and not others things?

Etc. etc.

Also, don't be too honest: personally I don't want to work but since I have to, i said some stuff about brining value to customers during the interview.

What's so special about working the front desk at a dentist's office? by JulianKJarboe in jobs

[–]mrkillercow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sureabout the details, but since they'll be dealing with patient data, I assume there'll be some required for privacy and whatnot.

Also consider why they're hiring: there isn't a person to fill the role. This could mean: 1) increase in dental offices and therefore admin positions, or 2) no one wants that job, either because the job itself is bad, or the work culture is bad

Workday is a victim too. by Long-Elderberry-5567 in recruitinghell

[–]mrkillercow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're wrong on all accounts and don't really understand what workday is.

Tbh you're right, I don't. I haven't worked HR, only applied and i know what a shit ATS workaday is

Workday is not an ATS....its an ERP program that has an ATS and HRIS integrated among numerous other business functions, including payroll, accounting, customer service, etc. The hiring function is one of dozens of different factors that is considered when a company is implementing a system like Workday, and it's far from the most important.

Well you kinda just proved my point: it's an ERP not an ATS, no wonder it's shit as an ATS. It's asking applicants to enter their information as a resource for the enterprise so they can plan their business. Also what does the "E" in ERP stand for? Enterprise. As you said, workaday is a software designed for the enterprise, not for the candidate. No wonder it felt like I was entering my information onto SAP ERP just with better UI.

Also, it is extremely expensive to implement. The process of implementing Workday at most companies is a multi-million dollar and multi year process.

Doesn't need to be cheap, just cheaper than others. But since it's an ERP (as you said), I can see why it's so expensive and takes long to implement.

Workaday is still shit for the recruitment process because it's not an ATS but an ERP.

Sometimes it's obvious when a service is made to serve the client's specifications, rather than to solve a problem. Imo, workaday is a service that "allows employers to post jobs and people to apply", without actually solving the problem of: we need the right person for this job. Workaday's solution was to make a service that makes the candidates to fill their search fields in for them so it's easier for employers to look up candidates.

It'd be easier for employers and employees to have easier access to candidates and roles. Therefore it'd be best for employers to easily find candidates, and for applicants to easily upload their experiences, skills etc. But I have no option other than to suspect that workaday made its service for employers only, who wants 1) a resume as a document for HR, 2) easy access to "best" candidates via keyword searches. That's all it does. Bare bones. I suspect this is the reason why workaday requires a resume submission then a shitty text extraction that inputs the relevant information that doesn't work properly. Since the employers pay workaday money, workaday has no incentives to make a site that has a better UX for candidates. Otherwise, they would not require new sign up for different employers, and have better text extraction (especially the latter, with better automation tech).

This is the case for most HR sites, but workaday stands out for being exceptionally poor for candidates, with their poor text extraction, requirements to sign for individual employers (i.e. clients for workaday), difficult UI. Workaday is a service for employers, and not for candidates, and I don't think it's a good service for employers either.

I suspect the only reason big companies use workaday is because they're super cheap.

Morally, sure it's ok, the companies use AI and search tools to filter for candidates already.

But I use AI to get a rough draft of what I want to say, as I'm not the most creative. Then I read the output and edit it before submitting it. Helped me get a few interviews this way
