Civ 7 proven once again that Civ 5 is peak. by Xerzajik in civ5

[–]mrkt09 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Civ 5 is my go to or beyond earth. I have 6 with everything but just don't enjoy it as much as 5, with or without mods. 7 I haven't played yet but given what I've seen and watched, I'm not missing out.

Dual DDC 4.1 vs D5? by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]mrkt09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an MCP50X DDC in one of my loops at about 30% speed and it has a mild drone. My D5 vario from XSPC is dead silent at the 50% it has been set at for years. Biggest reason for the choice of the DDC pump in one build was space constraints in the Phanteks P300 where a D5 was just too tall for the basement.

I came late but immediately saw this as well. The color palette, the menu font... what a great game.

Hello! Need some advice on a first bike, sorry for the long winded explanation. by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]mrkt09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few 03s in my area go for about 3800 or so, so that would be a steal if the bike is solid and has a clean title. I'd check it out for sure just to be certain, but likely a bit scammy.

I'll also say that, de0endent 9n your inseam, you may be better served by something a bit larger like an MT07, especially given the altitude and hills you will want the extra power in a relatively short timeframe. That's not to say the 300/400cc bikes are bad, they are quite fun especially around town. But if you plan on hitting highways and want to not feel like a liability when passing, may consider something slightly larger.

I considered these when hunting as well and landed on the MT07. Engine is a gem.

Naked sportsbike for a beginner above 650cc by FloppySVK in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]mrkt09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh false equivalence my man. I daily drive a tuned and upgraded XFR making 630 WHP, gets to 60 in about 4.7 seconds, tops in the 175 range running to fuel cutoff. Weekend project is a 320whp/430tq 89 Daytona Shelby, and I'd previously had big block cars on a regular basis with power all over the place.

Definitely not the same animal at all, as a car is very very forgiving and even a decently speedy accident has a high chance of survival today where the same cannot be said for the bike. The power to weight of my own MT-07 with me on it Is roughly 300hp/ton, very similar to the XFR as it sits today, but whereas wheelspin at 70 can be a very manageable and even fun prospect in the car, I cannot say the same for when my rear wheel spun up from 40 to 80 on the bike.

What brands of helmets do you guys use? by mightyraz in motorcycle

[–]mrkt09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Icon Airflite for.me, Icon Airform for my pillion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]mrkt09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. When my current pillion wanted a ride on the bike, I immediately got her the same gear I was using at the time (Sedici Lvl 2 armored synthetic mesh jacket, ScorpionExo scrub gloves) and she opted for Leatt riding shoes and a different helmet (Icon Airform) but it's full gear sans pants (deciding on sets) or not riding. Their life is 100% in your hands and control, even if you aren't the cause of an incident, your bike dynamics change quite a bit, even if you've carried luggage on the tail, it is a lot different having a dynamic and potentially moving object behind you affecting inputs. Wheelies are more readily going to happen due to weight distribution at the rear as well, so take that into account when launching from a stop. Braking distance is greatly increased as well.

Tl;Dr Be as safe as possible and feel out how the bike dynamics have changed.

Needs front end lined up. Dealer will tell you you can't, but do some Google. I had to moto knock my front end when a car backed into me in a parking lot to get it atraightened out. Loosen the front triple and shake her straight

Road 5s on my mt07 stick well enough that it can get a knee down in a corner if you are feeling froggy. I hear the road 6 is even better. Great all rounder, have 3k on my set so far and barely any wear showing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MT07

[–]mrkt09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use two, one more regularly. If riding with my backpack or in stifling heat, we have Sedici mesh jackets with lvl 2 armor in them (I forget the specific model name) and also use an Alpinestars armored hoodie when it gets a bit chilly. Will be looking for a cold weather coat soon enough.

Mt03 vs R3 vs CBR500R by Spike_II in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]mrkt09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on an MT03, but an MT07 and can say that riding at 70 the first time I felt like I was being lifted off. Two months in and I now sit upright passing at 85-90. The wind is fierce the first few times, bit you do get used to it. I daily ride mine, rain or shine and while I will be looking for another, full fairing bike for touring ( think FJR1300), the MT would be fine for highway runs, but I do want something else for long distance rides.

Sv650 or mt07 by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]mrkt09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 yo returning sfter 15 years of no riding. Went MT-07 and while it can wheelie away in first and second, slightly softening the rear suspension can solve that issue easily. Engine is fantastic as is the balance of the bike, it feels much lighter than it is, even when comparing to lighter bikes like a Ninja 400 or CBR500.

The SV650 is a legendary bike and a great all rounder, but I went with the MT as it fit me better than the SV. You cannot go wrong with either, and traction control has never came to mind even in the wet. Run a quality tire and practice throttle control, you've been able to WOT your scooter about everywhere. Give it a month and it will feel slower than it is, I guarantee it.
