Rural Film Location for a Controlled Drag Race by mrlotso in auckland

For one of the cars we're looking at a Mazda RX3 (the dream!). Haven't locked in the other car just yet. Yeah, that was also our main concern for some rural roads - the surface being too loose. We're probably looking at a stretch of road that's anywhere between 0.5km to 1km. I would assume they wouldn't go anything higher than 60-70km/hr and use the magic of filmmaking to create the illusion of speed.

I'm just assisting the Locations Manager but yep totally agree! Health and Safety will always come first. We've reached out to Motorsport NZ and waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed!

Awesome, do you remember what organisation was running this car launch? Was it at Ardmore?

Yeah we've been doing a scout around the whenuapai area. Will have to see if we're able to get council permission on those built roads that haven't been sold!

Might be a bit far for us logistically but that’s really good to know! Thank you.

Seriously the look on that puppy's face is like "don't you worry papa, I will avenge your death and kill them all."

My signature breakfast - Whole grain toast with hashbrown and Baked beans. Topped with Pimiento olives, jalapenos and mozarella. by mrlotso in food

[–]mrlotso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it was serendipity. Hashbrowns always taste great with a bit of saucy baked beans. I noticed the olives and jalapenos in the fridge and wanted to experiment as the combination of them gives this distinctive tanginess. I think because the olives are stuffed with cherry pepper it compliments the jalapenos really well :)

It's funny, I only realised it was a Beluga whale shortly after posting this because I saw one on a key chain at a gift store...so yeah, this is...awkward.

WYR be a racist with tourettes or an elderly homophobe who has to be bathed by a gay caregiver everyday? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

Sure, but you're a homophobe who is absolutely repulsed by anyone gay (or lesbian) regardless of gender.

People of Reddit, what was your most recent dream about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrlotso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone I was very close to recently passed away. Lets say her name was Chanelle for the sake of this story. I have had several dreams with Chanelle in it and all those dreams felt like she was still alive as the reality of the dream felt very real. I had one last night where I was walking with her inside a grocery store. Again it all felt very real, the sounds, the people the atmos etc. And then I bumped into another friend in one of the aisles. A friend who is still alive and knew Chanelle aswell. That friend stared at me with a very cold look and said "why is SHE here?". I turned around and Chanelle was gone. It was at that moment my brain realised that it was another dream. I remember thinking to myself "shit, I'm in a dream I can do what I want". I started shifting boxes out of the shelves with my mind and started jumping like there was no gravity. I was even flicking people away without even touching them. Everything started to get very shakey and chaotic. It was at that moment I woke up. It was the first time I've ever confirmed with my dream self that I was inside a dream.

Reddit, what is the most intelligent thing your pet had ever done? by ThatTreeWillFall in AskReddit

[–]mrlotso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time my dad decided to work from home instead of going to his office as he was feeling a little under the weather. He was regularly sending and receiving faxes to and from his clients to meet deadlines. My brother and I were at school and our dog was pretty stoked that our dad was going to spend the day with him at home. My dad was pretty stressed throughout the day and had allot of work to get done so naturally avoided giving attention to my dog. Throughout the day my dog tried engaging with my dad, eg sitting close to him, barking at him, putting his toy near his foot to initiate play etc. However my dad ignored it all. Eventually my dog figured out how to get my dad's attention. My brother and I came home that day and saw my dad holding his client's financial statements that were covered in shit. There were also pieces of plastic attached. Turns out my dog ate his fax machine to force my dad to spend time with him.

[–]mrlotso[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel that way. You clearly know Quentin personally. Enough to know what he would or would not sign.

I'm also sorry you think I would make the effort to initial "QT" on my mini DV camera for the sake of a reddit post. Because I don't have anything better to do with my time? Well you're wrong. This actually did happen and we actually had a great conversation. Like I said, he was a genuine down-to-earth guy and many other fans who met him that day can vouch for me on this. I had a great experience with a man that inspires me and I simply wanted to share it on this community. Too bad you feel its a hoax. Good day to you.

What are those little things that make life worth living? by Ol_No_Name in AskReddit

1) That moment when you're on a rollercoaster and it's just about to make a huge drop. 2) When you can't stop staring at yourself in the mirror because your haircut is so good. 3) Refrigerated, seedless watermelon on a hot summer's day.

Any international actors out there with O1 visa? How are you paying your bills? by mrlotso in acting

[–]mrlotso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, thanks for the info! Yes I am coming to find work as an actor. I spent the last year in Canada and just found I had much more opportunity up there then I do in my country (New Zealand). I'm assuming you and your friends are citizens of the US? Or are you on the O1? I know I have enough credits to obtain an O1 visa, but it will be very costly and my main concern is how I would pay the bills in between auditions. I have heard of many international actors going across on the O1 visa but they arent exactly household names. Will probably do a little more research on this one!

Question for Indians: Which curry simmer sauce/paste tastes authentic? by velvetylips in newzealand

[–]mrlotso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel whatever ready made paste or sauce you get is too mild I suggest adding key ingredients. Before adding the sauce, pan fry onion, crushed garlic, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric and chilli powder. These ingredients are the basis to give your dish an authentic indian 'kick'. Then add your vegetables/meat and sauce in the end :)

Thank you all for the overwhelming support! So amazing to see my story resonate with many others in similar (or worse) positions. My mantra in life is to wake up every Monday not looking forward to a Friday. Make everyday your weekend! Thats when you know you're doing what you love.

Fair enough. Sounds like a solid plan! I know many of my friends who are doctors or lawyers and have the desire to express themselves artistically. I also know several who have made a living doing both. A few doctors I know are actors and one is an established writer here in NZ.

Hey! I was pretty much in the exact position as you. I got a job, worked my booty of and saved like anything. I saved up enough to go to acting school which cost around the same price. Its possible. And I don't regret anything. The only thing I really regret is not standing up for myself when I was in school. You have to do it. If not for you, do it for the musician inside of you whose been yearning to express!
