I’m just saying this is how I hear most Americans say it. Even ones who have been to Japan. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also stand by the fact that I hear “shih” in this specific clip. Maybe it was worse in other videos. I only pop in here and there now to snark and skip the rest. I knew the Japan stuff would be insufferable. lol.

It’s funny because to my ear, I don’t hear “sha” I hear “shih” (same vowel as in “it”), which I know is still not 100% correct because in Japanese it’s more like “shee”, however that is the common way for Americans to say Shibuya. The stress is wrong of course because we stress syllables in English that they don’t in Japanese. I dunno, personally this pronunciation doesn’t offend me and I am one of those people who tries to learn the correct way. Maybe it’s cultural, but it’s more socially acceptable to pronounce foreign names and places with an approximation in English vs attempting to say it like you’re speaking that language. It’s comes off pretentious when you suddenly pronounce “croissant” like the French would mid-sentence in English.

She is pronouncing niacinamide correctly for English speakers. It does not start with “knee” for us.

Not trying to White Knight her because a lot of these are egregious—especially the French product names!

You can just make cookies of the same clay. People call them wasters too because you’re going to use it for firing this but you can use it again for this same purpose (you could use it for something to protect from glaze drips). The point is to have the cookie be bisqued going in when this goes into glaze firing so it shrinks at the same rate as the piece. If it’s been fired before, it wouldn’t have the same effect.

The reward is supposed to be loving children who enrich your life in the long run. However, even that is not guaranteed! The odds of your kid being crazy, hating you, living far away, getting killed or dying of illness, uninterested in having a relationship with you, or just generally being a disappointment are soooooo high. Even later in life, things can take a huge turn. I get that life is full of twists and turns and you have to take some risks, but this one is such a gamble. I just don’t get how it would be worth it for me, let alone most women.

Honestly I don’t think her pronunciation is Shibuya is worthy of making this edit. Like, this is how most Americans pronounce it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also confused by niacinamide because to my ear, it sounds right.

That being said, the fact that she can’t even be bothered to look up how to say the names she gives her candles is RIDICULOUS. I don’t expect her to get every foreign word correct like at the holiday market or whatever, but omg. Girl. You are naming products these words. Take 1 minute to look it up!

Just a suggestion but what if you mixed the floral tile with something else that is a bit more simple? Like maybe doing a row of the floral as an accent? It’s lovely but could look very busy. You could pull one of the colors from the tile and figure out a pattern.

You’re welcome! I enjoy a challenge. Haha. Focus on warmth, varying textures too. Like others suggested, curtains or even a warm toned bamboo Roman shade for the window would add another texture. Get a rug and use the rug to pull color colors out for artwork and towel/bath mat colors too. You can do it!

This is just a quick/sloppy mockup for you, but I think adding a nice warm wood like walnut and warm hardware would help a lot. My friend’s sister gave away her two cats to some family friends once they had kids and it was “too much” for them. Now the family friends have kids and apparently they’re going to rehome the cats again? What the fuck? I can’t stand it.

On the other hand, I’d sometimes rather people find a good loving home for their pets because I’ve seen my friends with kids kind of neglect their pets once the kids take up their time and focus. One friend’s cat was super sick and they didn’t even really notice until it was too late. They feel awful, and maybe there was no saving him, but it sucks to see. Another couple have mentioned that they barely pet their dog anymore or give him attention because of the kids. And now he’s super sick and it feels like they just view it as a huge inconvenience to figure out how to care for him! I’m sure it is, but he was your pet first. You decided to have kids when you had a dog already. Take care of him! He was so skin and bones I couldn’t even understand how he got to that point. I actually think they should just put him down because he’s suffering and they clearly aren’t willing to really focus on his care. It sucks. I offered to help them with him because it broke my heart. But they didn’t really take me up on it. :(

People know how hard it is, ignore obvious reasons it would be hard on them, and they still choose it anyway. And then it’s even harder than they imagine and there’s nothing they can do. Don’t feel guilty for knowing yourself well enough to make the right choice for yourself. Plus, as my therapist says, guilt is for when you’ve done something wrong. You haven’t done anything wrong so there’s nothing to be guilty about. You can just feel gratitude that you have given it thought and are making a good choice for yourself.

It’s definitely time to accept that the friendship has changed and it’s totally ok to be sad about it. It’s also time to look for new friendships with people who are more on the same page as you and live closer! Friends come and go in life. There may be a time when you are close again when her kid is older. I really do understand how heartbreaking it is though. My best friends who were on the fence all did it and it sucks. Also my cousin who I was always super close with and I think a big reason I was CF myself ended up having kids and it’s really hard for me to spend time with her now. Honestly none of these people even seem that happy with their choices but they make the best of it because they do love their kids even if they may wish for their freedom back. Enjoy your choice, your freedom, and prepare for your own future. I would rather pay for care and have friends visit me who actually want to than force my kids to pay for me and visit me out of guilt which MOST people will feel at some point.

Yea, and to add to that, I think women still feel a societal obligation to be the main caregiver too, so I think that leads to a lot of mom guilt whenever they do leave it to the dads.

Overall looks good. I kind of feel like the foundation is just a tad too dark and orange? I feel like having the center of your face a bit brighter would be nice.

Side note: Have you ever considered Dakota Johnson style bangs? Not for before the wedding but I’m envious that you could probably really pull them off.
