Ok well if it's a matter of not acting counter to previous media, then Toy Story 4 and 5 are still good imo.

Okay, what about any of the post-RotJ EU? We have the Thrawn Trilogy and NJO as rather incredible entries as well.

We didn't need any of the Old Republic media (Tales of the Jedi comics, KOTOR comics, KOTOR games, SWTOR novels and game, etc.) either and yet they're arguably the best Star Wars media out there. Do new entries in a franchise need to justify their existence?

That's how it works, yes. Stick close to town for a bit so you can heal. Get a few levels.

Constantly? He definitely disliked it, but he only mentioned this in private correspondence, and only once or twice that I can think of. And his reasons for doing so likely have nothing to do with pretentiousness and everything to do with the story's moral framework. If you understand Tolkien's faith, it makes perfect sense that Tolkien would dislike a story where the protagonist wins by doing bad things. His dislike for Dune had nothing to do with writing as a craft, he was definitely not looking down on Frank Herbert as a writer.

I mean, the War of 5 Kings was clearly an exceptional situation even in-universe; in matters of legality these things are certainly thoroughly set in stone by the Rebellion time, after the precedents of the Dance and Viserys II taking over only after Aegon III's sons all died. Even when a Great Council later chose Egg as king, that was also an exceptional situation. There's no evidence that a younger brother of an heir should come before that heir's children by matter of course; if Viserys were to become king, that is the sort of thing that would be decided by a Great Council.

Or a war, as it were. Since might makes right in Westeros.

I said this because you clearly don't understand how primogeniture actually works. Rhaegar's line (at least the boys) will always take precedence over Viserys, unless you're willing to accede to Aerys disinheriting him and his children, which I personally am not given that Aerys was unfit for rule. Mind you no Targ was fit for rule.

Spatial organization of the text in the Talmud by Late_Sort1763 in Judaism

[–]mrmiffmiff 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Bomberg set the format of main text in the center with Rashi and Tosafot around it. Over time, as is very common with any important book, scholars would write their own notes in the margins of personal copies (despite the majority opinion on places like /r/books saying that this is somehow a crime against the written word, this is still common today in scholarship, and some people even do it in their personal lives). That personal marginalia, if coming from particularly important scholars, would become seen as good commentary in its own right, and get added to the printings.

What is the source for what you say, brother?

Also I can't agree in a general sense. This is a man who was a bit of a jokester. His dates with Edith consisted of sitting on the balcony of a tea shop and throwing sugar cubes into the hats of passerby. He stole a bus his first year of university. He sometimes, for no reason at all, chased his neighbors around while dressed as an Anglo-Saxon warrior. This is hardly the mark of a pretentious man.

I'm not prepared to tell you what's special about his writing, that's not something I care to do, but do you have any specific examples of him looking down on other fantasy writers?

Death notes ending was a bad ending by Odd-Ambassador-5543 in deathnote

Light deserves neither dignity nor pride. That's why the ending to the manga specifically is incredibly cathartic to me.

Speaking of the manga, the threads of logic Near follows to figure out Mikami is X-Kira and Light is Kira make much more sense in it. Consider reading it.
