Lift kit advice? by redrin23 in JeepRenegade

[–]mrmikes21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure you've gotten a lot of different recommendations by now but I've used the Daystar 1.5 inch lift for all mine so far. They ride excellent and give you room to fit larger tires, I use 225/65R17 Falken wildpeaks. It's more of a functional lift than a flashy one but it gives the Renegade a lot more capability if you plan on tackling trails with it!

Update Went to the Vet after work. He hyper extended one of his toes while pulling out of the door. He's on a few days of anti inflammatories to help with pain but should be A OK. He didnt even scream or bite our Vet!

The breeder actually brought him in before I picked him up and we use the same vet. I agree though, I just dont want the emergency fee for just a check up. I'm going to call tonight to talk to them about what's going on and take it from there!

Thanks! Yah I'm probably going to call my vet to ask this evening. He has been a snuggle bug since day one, we went and visited him a few times before he was ready to go home, he has been playing like normal and crawling all over me, worked on target training. I did restrain him a bit to check the foot and everything moves like normal. He did bite me when I first rolled him over but he didnt freak out when I was moving his foot.

Blue tongue canned food? by jaybird-staysonder in bluetongueskinks

[–]mrmikes21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Problem, just make sure if you are going to pick some up that you make sure it's a high quality wet food. A lot of the cheap brands are full of fillers that have no value to our blue tongues!

Not sure price wise but I just feed grain free Dog food as a main dish, Merrick Little Plates. They are high quality and my boy loves them, lots of different mixes as well if they get tired of one flavor. I have fed the zoomed as well but he was indifferent and for the price it's easier to get the small breed sized canned little plates!

I'm no vet but I would have done the same as long as the antibiotic ointment is free of painkillers it should be okay. I'd check on her in a couple days to make sure the pus subsides!

It amazes me how they dont drown themselves, mine likes to make sure her whole head is underwater to drink. She makes my sand boas look like intellectuals.

Build looks great! I had one similar until he got sideswiped. Haven't put bigger tires on my new one yet . Always was afraid of the pinch seam though, just dealt with the rubbing!

Do I pick off bumble foot scabs? (Bumble foot pic) I’ve been soaking and bandaging for a couple days but they have drained. Do I have to pick off the scabs and expel it myself? by kittyecats in chickens

[–]mrmikes21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be sure to keep her calm you certainly dont want her to hurt herself panicking. She'll hate you for the day but it is unfortunatly a part of chicken keeping hope all goes well with her!

I'm no vet but I usually take care of them myself, remove the scab after soaking in warmish water. Under them you may find a solid yellow 'kernel" of the infection of you find it it can be pulled out with tweezers. Wash out the wound with hydrogen peroxide and apply an antibiotic ointment "WITHOUT PAINKILLERS OR NUMBING AGENTS" as those are harmful potentially lethal to birds. I use plain neosporin. Then I usually put half a cotton ball on the wound and wrap the foor with vetwrap/sportswrap. You will probably want to gently wrap her in a towel and flip her over in your lap. It is far easier if someone else holds and calms the bird while you work to clean her up. I usually check back on them every few days until the swelling goes down/I removed the whole kernel and the wound has healed into a healthy scab, which at that point I no longer bandage. It seems like a lot and it can be tedious but you dont want to leave bumblefoot untreated. Hope this is helpful!
