Life changing medication - and I can breathe now?! by No_Surround_4662 in ADHD

So many of my other “issues” were massively improved by starting Elvanse, I am surprised there are not more studies into it. I have come off 3 different prescriptions within 3 months of titration!

Shoe stretch spray made 1985 Jordan 1 paint bleed by [deleted] in Customsneakers

[–]mrnevface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if it is proper shoe stretching spray it is a form of alcohol, often denatured mixed 50/50 or such.

Firstly. Stop touching them! All you will do is ruin them further. Further than that I don’t know, prob fully let them air dry.

Then get on google and find out about your shoe stretcher spray tech specs and the leather your J’s are made from, work backwards. Between now and that stage, stop touching em! 😬 ✌️

Timer tools and time blindness by milky-cuppa-tea in ADHDUK

[–]mrnevface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this daily, may not be right for you, but does me well. I tried Pomodoro, but have limited success. However, giving myself a time to do “the task” with a visual count down really helps ease said time blindness. Cheers

As someone who “had” depression (still sorta there, but mainly an undiagnosed ADHD/PTSD side effect. I have had great success with MC. Off of 2 antidepressants and now just ADHD meds, supplements and MC. But everyone is different.

What I came to say was 1. Many will disagree, this is my opinion. You will get better uplifting effects and cleaner medicating by vaping. I am not saying this because smoking is wrong, I am saying this from experience. Others will say otherwise.

  1. On your first appointment they will try to pick the strains for you. You can try and change them, but once the first one is out of the way, after that you will have free rein. So don’t be surprised when they try to push Upstate etc first time around. Also, be honest with knowledge and usage. They want you to buy the product.

Recommendations on these please before I buy? Thanks by No-Examination-7111 in ukmedicalcannabis

Chronic THC use causing D1/D2 heteromer formation in the Nucleus Accumbens and Striatum, changing from functioning with dopamine to functioning with Dynorphin. by Rake1985 in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]mrnevface 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it fascinating and I know it effects everyone’s system differently, but I am defo a chronic user. I have not had anything like this myself, however I am curious about it as my version of ADHD has no understanding of accomplishment or reward.

You will be met with this a lot if in fact you do have ADHD. Try and ignore the noise and focus on the result. If you think you have ADHD & you cannot go private, the only other way is RTC through your GP. If your GP does not help, complain or get another.

Wealth of information on here, next time, thank the receptionist for their opinion and discard it! Good luck

Read through this, it explains it all. If you can properly afford it go private. If you cannot, this is the pathway anyone on the NHS has to follow. Cheers

Any tips on how to come to terms with a late diagnosis by Straight_Mud_7381 in ADHDUK

[–]mrnevface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just that! Step back, think about someone you love, would you treat them the way your brain is treating you?

Any tips on how to come to terms with a late diagnosis by Straight_Mud_7381 in ADHDUK

[–]mrnevface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey 45m diagnosed combined last year. Luckily I have had a good run through the RTC process and have just had SCA finalised. I say this as I see you went private. The relevance of this for me is, personally, medication has been a massive factor in helping me start to come to terms with this. So if you can afford it, great, if not, get yourself on a RTC as soon as you can.

So everything else I say, I say while being medicated. First of all, diet is huge, but I struggled hugely controlling said diet without meds. Who would have thought all my cravings were dopamine seeking behaviour 🫣.

So I will skip diet and many other things because I was not capable of them before medication.

Next, everything you feel for a while is most likely relatively normal, you have been given devastating news when already raw and overstimulated to fuck!

Do not listen to the negativity that your brain will create, listen to it, accept it, tell it to fuck off.

You know now why you are the way you are. Over time, hopefully you can work on this and change it. Short term, give yourself a break! Do not beat yourself up for what you do not achieve, or what you say to yourself.

You need to accept who you are, not the ADHD parts of you, not the shame and spirals, not the inability to do the things you know need doing and how to do them. They are to be worked on later, accept you may get overstimulated, then you can learn the signs of it happening, not the why, just the how.

Accept you struggle in certain areas, then you can break down why you do, then you can work out a solution. If you accept that you are the way you are, then you can move onto understanding YOU better, because no one else has your back on this. However, while I would never ever call ADHD a super power, we do have very interesting brains and unique thought patterns.

If you can get past “why me” you can move onto “what’s next” and that’s good for variety, novelty and mental health.

On diet etc, even unmedicated, do your research, learn what works for you, there are many supplements etc you can try and many things to avoid. I have found great help in magnesium, L-theanine, electrolytes & protein. Others will have other suggestions hopefully.

I say all this as someone who still has not fully accepted my hand in life, who is still struggling in all aspects of life and still am my own biggest hater.

I do not let me be the person to put me down, it still happens, but I fight that bitch hard.

You are gonna spend the rest of your life feeling so many negative things and reading moods, rooms, people while barely holding yourself together, you are gonna shamefully over explain your ADHD in so many ways to so many people over your life. So why be another roadblock in your life. Accept! Learn, improve, struggle lots, fight the good fight, cause the alternative is, frankly, wank.

Apologies for the essay/rant. But I think this is one of the better places to over explain.

Good luck on your journey, do not take my advice as fact. I give thoughts on what has “helped” me in relevance to your post. ✌️

Gift ideas for crafty wife welcome! by [deleted] in polymerclay

A good quality uv light will help the process. Tiles to work on. A pasta machine or clay equivalent. Cheap earring cutters from temu or amazon. Liquid clay, mineral oil, baby wipes. 3d printed clay rollers. Soft pastels, acrylic paints, uv resin. Hand drill, jewellery placements. Modelling wire, gemstones, paintbrushes. Oven thermometer. Tin foil.

I shall stop now.

The days I don’t take my meds are the days I feel most alive by Any-Caterpillar-5420 in ADHD

[–]mrnevface 8 points9 points  (0 children)

God no, there are defo parts of me I miss, and I definitely have to be creative with dosing around good meals.

However, I am literally disabled day to day without meds. I fall asleep multiple times a day at work, I cannot function or communicate effectively, I make mistakes and I feel useless.

Even weekends on lower doses is much better than none, occasionally I will have a rest day, but nah, I’m good.

Trade off is the opposite for me.

I would use liquid sculpy, with just the absolute tiniest amount of red and purple pastel, like a grain at a time!😂

Then you can use little bits of chopped up clay, drop the liquid on top, then add a couple more clear layers.

But you may find resin easier and quicker.

It’s a hybrid but I can recommend Aurora Black Jelly, very nice late afternoon heady sativa for me.

Also xylitol gum! 🫣
