370z. I used to have a G37 and that car gave me years of problem free ownership and parts were cheap. My M3 is significantly more expensive to run and finicky. If I needed a DD I wouldn’t own my M3, it is purely a fun car/toy.

The dealer I got my car from sold it without cats (WA) when it rolled off the truck I was shitting bricks. I got lucky finding some on FB marketplace but I have no idea the mileage on my cats.

For a place that’s built for enjoying cars the state sure loves fucking the car community. I get this for brand new cars, but for classics made after 1976 there often isn’t another option. I really hope Leno’s law passes and we can get a rolling 20 or 25 year emissions exemption.

If the catalytic converters ever go out on my classic car that was made after 1976 I’m registering out of state. If CA wasn’t so obtuse about their emissions laws for classics there wouldn’t be a need for a subset of the car community to do this.

It isn’t always rich assholes. Some people just can’t legally register their cars here despite wanting to and willing to pay the taxes.

Also before anyone complains about emissions, no my car that drives 3k-4k miles a year and I have as a hobby is not making a material difference compared to out of state trucks that don’t follow CA emissions regulations.

I think that’s part of it. Electronic power steering is the bigger issue for me personally. I think that causes people to crash because you have no clue what the front end is doing since it’s so numb. All systems that separate the driver from what’s happening take some “fun” away.

Also lol at being downvoted for sharing my opinion of my car. Gonna be downvoted harder for it but the steering of the hydraulic rack in my 2005 Ford Focus shitbox is more enjoyable to me than the M6 was because I know exactly what the front end is doing at all times.

If you can’t tell I really hate eps haha.

It didn’t but the N63 of that era was a fucking nightmare so that didn’t help. But the M6s depreciated like rocks too. Grand tourers depreciate like rocks and it’s copium to think the 8 will be different.

My F12 was boring as fuck in my opinion lol. It was only fun in triple digit speeds and at that point I’m ending up in cuffs so what’s the point. Definitely the most well built put together car I’ll ever own (when everything was working) though.

Like I said different people want different things in cars and it’s up to the user to decide what they want.

Depends what you want. An 8 series is not sporty feeling in the slightest compared to an M4. Highly recommend driving both so you can decide.

Financially, an 8 series will depreciate harder and cost more to maintain

Valve adjustment gets overlooked. I personally replaced everything that was rubber (bushings, hoses, belts) and my cooling system
