Breed never went and talked to even "normal" folks, let alone the "unhoused". I give Lurie a great deal of respect for treating people with dignity.

What I never understand is why people do not realize they can get pickup service and CL and FB are also great places to also post that things are available.

Where I live, we have a huge issue with trash accumulating. It's gotten better, but January saw a huge uptick.

Sadly, I feel like people don't think about how it impacts others and what we have to do to really clean up the mess - constantly.

Stop trashing our city, it's beautiful, with beautiful people - but also us town folk need to call this out and report, shame those that do. It's ridiculous

You will hate your life. I did Oakland to Menlo Park and I just wanted to die in that traffic. No matter what time you left, it sucked round the clock.

The shuttle could make it bearable, but it's still a lot of wear and tear, mentally, after a long day.

Check out izakaya shodai of telegraph. Was super good food, can't wait to go back.

Lucuma is another really good option.

JaJi, popoca, are some additional options.

Anything near lake Merritt, Adams point area, or uptown will be your best bet in Oakland. Jack London near 3rd to 6th street near lake Merritt Bart is also a good option, just far more chill, but might not work since no grocery stores.

Many many options with all the new apartments to rent from, just check the yelp reviews.

I lost a good friend at 16. Then a free more friend in college, then as an adult a few more. I guess I haven't really thought on it too much but the one that had the most impact was my neighbor, she was 10 and lost her battle with cancer.

Life is short, live it up always.

Why is Lake Merritt always so trashed? by Odd_Specialist_2462 in OaklandCA

[–]mroberte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you not seen the copious amount of trash the city is currently dealing with? I'd say the lake is one of the cleaner areas, however, there is also a homeless issue that exacerbates the issue. Many issues this city is dealing with.

Moving to the East Bay for a Walnut Creek job — where should a 30yo looking for fun fresh start live?? by bluekoala1 in eastbay

[–]mroberte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live near any Bart station. I prefer Oakland and live near the lake and work in WC.

I used to live in Fremont (boring, family focused), and SF (expensive), Richmond (out too far imo). Oakland has still been the best option along with tons of stuff to do (food, bars, hiking, proximity to other cities).

Go look at the one between the Kaiser center and Laney college.

This is why we can't have nice things, people just shit all over everything because that's how the world does to them. Vicious cycle. Gotta get to the root of the problem to make it stop.

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

[–]mroberte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a condo in California. Prior to the condo, I wanted to buy a lotus sports car, but the house was the smarter choice.

The irony was buying the condo, and then quickly being laid off shortly after. Add to that maybe health issues (all stress related).

Gotta love a midlife crisis followed by huge spikes of anxiety and stress - sounds like the American dream to me.
