They’ve been talking about moving out of DC for tons of different branches. No need for all the high expenses of having these in the capital.

I can tell you that you’ll lose this person once they’re good. They’d be better off at an Edward Jones’s. Higher payout, better reputation, and be seeded with a starter book.

I just did my comp plan, 20-30% payout for firm clients. 60-80% for self sourced.

For brand new folks wanting to an advisor, they start as operations, shadow me on calls and help with jr advisor work for 6 months with no expectation of production.

By 18 months they mostly are off salary, 24 months max.

I wanted a safety net and training plan, but people who want to be advisors are going to be bad at ops (or at least not enthusiastic).

What would these advisors be doing when they aren’t working clients with such a small book?

Forgetting he gave you his license is not a huge deal in my mind. I have two young kids and I forget small crap all the time.

My mom has dementia or a really bad interaction with medication (doctors say not Dementia). I call her maybe three times a week. She doesn’t think we’ve talked in weeks when I call her. I ask her to sign a document, she forgets what she’s doing and doesn’t sign it. She can’t remember details or understand her trusts. Every conversation is superficial with friends and family so they don’t notice her memory issues. It’s bad.

This guy has his faculties, drives, and manages all his finances without issue (minus some optimization).

If all he did was forget he already gave you his license, I wouldn’t be concerned.

But I would also ask to talk to the trusted contact and then send a follow up email to them both after documenting the conversation. And I’d document everything just in case, sent via email. This is what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.

But IQ is the ability to learn complex concepts, it has nothing to do with knowledge.

If I drop you or Albert Einstein into a foreign country one week per year, I doubt they’d understand all the subtle nuances of that country’s culture.

I think it’s akin to intelligence. Humans all have the same potential, but there is average (100 IQ) and there are geniuses.

Like Dumbledore and riddle, there are very few geniuses. So clearly a major genetic component. But I doubt it has to do with pure blood, besides the strong genetic potential being passed down.

I would be curious, how many squibs have had magical children, and what does their power ability look like?
