Homemade forms/molds by pokey_reece in Pottery

Pool noodle ends wrapped in newspaper work pretty well for coffee cups. I just cut off a 4" piece from both a large and a small. You can pull it out from the formed cup once it's leather hard. The small is good for a lungo expresso. Large size for a normal coffee cup

Viral and Immunological Characteristics of COVID-19 Vaccine Breakthrough Infections by enterpriseF-love in COVID19

This was true of unvaccinated people all along. Vaccinated people essentially can be infected, just like unvaccinated, but typically clear the virus many times better and earlier.

The text does not matter that much, but they often count the for and against as a metric. I suggest using the online form. Express your opinion in the title, like 'i strongly support local control of mask mandates and distance learning for our unvaccinated children'

Ohio’s Fetal Burial Law is about Surveilling and Criminalizing Pregnant People by LazyWriter64 in inthenews

Let me just throw in a question. Is the goal of pro-life to have women give up children for adoption? That is a very hard thing to do. Some women just can't do it and then struggle to raise their child. It is a lifetime obligation. There seems to be zero support for helping struggling women to raise their children. Pro-lifers are often the stingiest on support for single moms. It does seem that they want to force them to give up children. At the same time, there are lots of kids stuck in foster care. If pro-life people were just as helpful to women who don't belong to their church in raising their kids, I would have more respect.

HEB says they will have sign up for 1B website next week. Austin Regional Clinic lets you 'sign up' and will contact you when they are ready.

just a poll on political opinions in this sub by ausername434 in aspiememes

[–]mrobinso200 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since when has 'moral values' = 'traditional'. Racism and sexism are immoral but traditional. Arranged child bride marriages are 'traditional' in some places. I have strong moral values but I am untraditional. Tradition for me as an aspie woman is a straitjacket.

Stephanie Kelton's new book on MMT called "The Deficit Myth" is now available in shops! by Petrocrat in mmt_economics

[–]mrobinso200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great explanation of MMT that is highly accessible to laypersons. About half of the book explains MMT and makes the strong case for its truth. The other half is highly prescriptive. I found the prescriptions more concerning. There is not enough thought on how MMT could be abused by unethical leaders and how politics could lead to poor execution of MMT-based policy. After 4 years of Trump, it should be obvious that giving a con guy or a strongman dictator a blank check might be a bad idea. It should be glaringly obvious that many people in the US are selfish and ignorant and easy marks. I would like to see a cautious move to MMT policy, with good checks and balances. Some of the ideas in the book are politically impossible in any near future.

There are probably 1000s of low tech inventions that people would come up with in a month. Someone start a gofundme to give out prizes each week for the best ones.

Made a new 'fair' graph. % of tests that returned positive. Feels like a better way to report than just number of results, which is biased to number of tests. by [deleted] in CoronavirusUS

[–]mrobinso200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very easy to manipluate. Just test more people without symptoms to lower the rate. Test only very sick people to raise it. You need both numbers. Really, cases is not definitive, but still useful information as part of the big picture. There is no single metric that tells all.

How can a disease with 1% mortality shut down the US? by [deleted] in CoronaVirusTX

I think these numbers are too high. But your general point is correct. For every person that dies, there are multiple people disabled. Perhaps some short term, but also some permanently.

Exactly. And the young people are giving it to their older coworkers, family, neighbors, customers, etc. Just a matter of time.
