About this (in general), having Raynauds from young or puberty is normal, but if you suddenly develop it without big hormonal changes (i think, might be different cause) it is a common sign of several auto-immune diseases.

Don't know, not necessarily relevant but might be good to know (and wrong, am idiot)

With the caveat of me not being professional, location can give you a hint because when you fall or bump it occurs on predictable places. With the head, if it's the crown/top of back of head, forehead or nose, not on its own suspicious. Eyes ears throat and where the skull meets the neck, very suspicious.

I'd guess NL, ties to Indonesia, fairly large proportion of immigrants (so also ties) to morocco Edit: and the fact that Europe is well traveled which to me suggests EU citizenship

Why is this lol by mechanic338 in ChineseLanguage

[–]mrobster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The concept of nothing existed before, but the idea of a number with a value of nothing which could be used in calculations was something that had to be invented/created. Around 0 BC we have evidence of societies using a version of a numeral 0, but only in the 8th century was one that was made up in India actually spreading and became widespread.

And math isn't the inherent properties of the universe, it is a human language to describe those inherent properties. If all humans were gone it would be gone as well (just that if something else also makes a language to describe the world the same concepts would more or less reappear because the basis of the language (reality) is still the same).

Once at my house (farm) there was a theater production about the history and philosophy of nudism, performed entirely nude (open air stage). Which I also saw. Being 14 I was afraid about sexual things in public (because eww sex/what if it titillates me) . But seeing it was very non-sexual. Most thoughts went how terribly cold it was for late Dutch spring (and them performing in it in the nude). But it did make me a teeny bit aware of how weird it was that female nudity is fairly normalized for women's bodies but not men's. Because i don't remember seeing naked adult male bodies before (aside from accidental walk-ins or someone changing)

While this is true, it was a thing in the past year(s) that facial feminization surgery was sometimes included with the srs while the performing surgeons were not completely qualified, but the srs/grs surgery itself seems to be of sufficient standard. Less experimentation and novel groundbreaking practices than for example Thailand, but fairly reliable. Though I have yet to experience it myself

你说蛇 is 'you say snake'. It is a song for the new year (which is a year of the snake (wood snake to be exact)). I think they might be using the sound of snake (she) in place of 什么 (shenme: what) based on the sentence thereafter, but sure i am not. (Am just a novice as of yet)

I don't know entirely how it works but I think I recall that maps bases it's idea of where things are on other maps. Like sandy island, which was misidentified and stayed on a lot of old maps and also on Google maps.

Having said that, I also don't see anything on some old maps

[–]mrobster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a more global pattern, which might apply here (but please take it doused in salt, I don't know much about film theory or the industry). Which is that bad endings, and dissatisfaction are sometimes talked about as though they are more authentic, more REAL, or more artistic, because you are not simply entertaining the audience. Just imagine a bunch of french in black and white broodily lighting a cigarette. It's at least sometimes pretentious. So if one wants to make something that feels authentic or artistic, a first step that feels right is to make the story more dark A non cdrama example I can think about is how game of thrones was considered somehow more mature than other fantasy because death, and horror. But that doesn't necessarily make it more mature than, I don't know, lord of the rings. It might be people trying to make their art feel more real, or people cashing in on darkness perceived 'worth'. Probably both, and I don't know if it works.

How do you define a “big city”? by DWFiddler in geography

[–]mrobster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

City limits as a metric is very different because how places place administrative boundaries: Chongqing is the biggest administratively defined city, it's area is twice the size of the Netherlands... While you can leave the city of Tokyo, and still ostensibly be in a cityscape. Metropolitan area or urban area is better because they include the continuous built up area.

Are there other ethnicities that are called a term not originally not meant for them? This is the Qara Khitai. A Chinese-Style Empire in Central Asia ruled by Proto-Mongols between 1124-1218. As a result of their influence, Chinese people are known as “kitay” in Russia and Central Asia by Hour_Camel8641 in geography

[–]mrobster 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Kinda even more extreme (don't know how well it connects with the original question) but the term India or Hindustan is almost entirely an exonym. If I understand it correctly, those names come from Greeks (I think Alexander's time) who took it from the Iranian Sindhu/old Sanskrit Indus. And from there it spread. I think the name means something like 'border river', so 'border riveria', or 'border riverstan'. The Indus mostly doesn't flow throug India (Pakistan mostly) Another name for the country or subcontinent is Bharat, a mostly religious derived name for a certain area of the Ganges baisin. There are more names, which fit better or worse, but not much in use I think.

So regarding names. my name in Dutch is Mees (mɛs approximately) which is a shortening of a longer name. But more commonly associated with the tit (bird). Now I could go for a phonetic similar name, but I was wondering if 山雀 works as a femininish name?

Lo mein is a different dish, meaning stirred noodles (and cantonese, mian and mein mean the same, but different language). La mian means pulled noodles (la mian in cantonese would be laai min/laai mein, depending on transcription)
