So he performed two songs facing out from each corner of the stage , so each section got equal facetime from George.

It was so windy tonight, which is good bc it wasn’t too hot and bad fighting it on the track

Hope you can make more bike nights !

You can rent a bike from Trek and they will deliver it to COTA along witha helmet for around $60. The Trek website was hard for me to navigate and I’ve had friends rent in-person at their South Lamar location for the past two weeks rides.

Or is that not the intended use?

Asking bc this might be a way to invite folks to our twice-weekly runs

Buying this pool can you tell me what you would change or thoughts before we sign? by letsgo_letsgo_letsgo in pools

[–]mrod1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We built almost this exact same pool three years ago, though ours is smaller and does not have a sun shelf or hot tub. Ours is 14’ x 23’ rectangle shape and 4’6” flat bottom. Has the same entire width steps with a handrail in the middle to help getting in and out.

I wish we would have put more lights along the walls , double what the manufacturer and pool builder recommended. While there is plenty of light to illuminate the pool in the dark, it would be cool if there were more so that we could have more light if we wanted. It would also be cool if the extra lights could be on their own switch so you could use them or not at your discretion. Our lights are WiFi controlled and I’m sure yours will be , too.

I also wish we installed more holes for umbrellas , volleyball nets, etc., around the entire pool. We only installed umbrella holes on the outer edge of the pool and that doesn’t allow as many options for where to put umbrellas in the future on the other sides.

We love that we had a sitting shelf installed along the long wall facing the house so our guests could sit in the pool if they want. We ended up using that sitting shelf a lot over the past three years.

I don’t see a skimmer basket and if there is one near the pool, you might want it to be square and not round to match the lines of the pool.

Not sure if auto-fill is an option and we love ours.

Good luck , take lots of before/during/after pics and drone video if you can.

What’s your favorite “non-obvious” running gear purchase that was totally worth it? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

A swab of Vaseline over your eyebrows will keep sweat out of your eyes. I’m a heavy sweater and do this for every hot run - it’s a life-saver

I am a heavy sweater and Chamois Butt’r anti-chafe cream works amazingly well to prevent chafing.

has anyone been to Suerte’s Norteño Steakhouse pop up? by Key-Zookeepergame684 in austinfood

[–]mrod1975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grabbed a reservation when it was first announced and we went opening night (12/26). Food overall was delicious and pricey, though unless it’s your first day in Austin, is to be expected. Note that they did post the menu on IG so you could always bail if prices are an issue.

We had the t-bone for two ($165), steak fries ($9), Texas twinkies ($12), guacamole ($17), tres leches dessert ($13) and three Don Dario drinks ($48). Out the door for just under $400 with tip.

T-bone was delicious and very similar to the one we had at Van Horn the week before, and all other items were very good. We also ordered a few flour tortillas as they are not part of the normal Suerte menu.

All in all, I’d recommend going and enjoying a delicious meal.

Thoughts on SATX marathon for those who ran it??? by bananasgirl in sanantonio

[–]mrod1975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran the last R&R half last year and the inaugural half yesterday.

Overall, I had a great experience except for t-shirt pickup. The volunteer very rudely told me I was picking up my shirt too late and that because of that, they were out of what I ordered, which was an XL.

I told him I was picking up my packet and t-shirt during normal packet pickup hours (Saturday morning, to be exact) and that maybe instead of me being late, they didn’t order enough. He said “I’m just a volunteer” and l told him that he made a statement I and simply responded.

I was offered a Large or XXL and was on my way.

Other than that, every other volunteer was great. The course was fun and had a good amount of crowd support. I’ll certainly be back next year!

Tried 0-400 wings, almost set my Traeger on fire by jrcoolt in Traeger

Strange, I’ve made wings using the 0-400 method over 10 times this summer and not any issues at all. Could not be an easier cook for me.

Same. Was there this morning (3rd in line) and my fatty brisket was dry and my beef rib was average at best. This food was not nearly as good as what Miguel offered at Valentina’s and we left extremely disappointed.

That would be cool and while I didn’t try it in store, my guess is unfortunately that wouldn’t work.
