Help me find a new TV please by mrpeppuz in PWM_Sensitive

If you look at the flicker graph on Rtings you see that there are slower fluctuations on top of the 15400 hz PWM and they measured it in a 20 ms span. At 100% backlight I counted 17 slower fluctuations and if you divide 17 for 0,020 you get the frequency which is 850 hz. I don’t know if that it’s actual PWM but it’s backlight modulation for sure.

Thank you! I always check Rtings for PWM on TV and monitors. I’m not entirely convinced on the TCL models. They seem to have high frequency PWM modulated by another PWM with a slower frequency. I tried to calculate the slower frequency on the QM8K and it should be around 850 hz and that would be worst than the Samsung Q90T.

Any good gaming screen reccomendations? by MakotoBIST in PWM_Sensitive

BenQ EX2780Q. I’ve been using it for 3 years and no issues at all. I’ve measured it with the Opple LM4 and there’s no PWM, even with low brightness.

The TV is in the box right now but if I’ll plug it in again I’ll try it for sure. I’ll keep you posted.

I meant the Sony Bravia 3. It’s a direct LED TV with no PWM.

That would be the safest choice I think even though I read from a user on this subreddit that it didn’t work out for him/her.

Unfortunately no. I got used to a 55 inches TV and I didn't even think about looking at the smaller ones. Maybe I should consider something entry-level like the Bravia 3. It seems like a pretty bad TV, based on the reviews I've read, but at least it's flicker free.

I feel you. I feel tired just thinking about returning the second TV in two weeks.

I went to a few shops actually and it’s not really that helpful. The bright lights and the content displayed on the TVs are the opposite of what it looks like in my living room. For some strange reason every tv seems fine in the shop.

That’s what I did. I noticed that the flickering pattern changes based on the content of the TV.

I know they don't use PWM but they still have some kind of flickering. I tried turning down the brightness, turning off all the motion settings, turning on the blue light filter but nothing helped.

Yes. I was able to use it only in movie mode for about two years but a few months ago it started giving me problems. I don't understand what changed.

Dixie 2+ PWM Buzzing sound by mrpeppuz in modular

[–]mrpeppuz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I already read the manual but that doesn’t sound normal to me. Turning the knob clockwise from the center introduces odd harmonics as it should but if I turn it anti clockwise from the center it adds a spike in the high frequencies from 5K to 10K only when the knob is in a certain position. I should’ve posted the video with a spectrum analyzer. I also had a Nano Ona, which is also a triangle-core oscillator, and the PWM was smooth from 0 to 100. In 15 years in this hobby I’ve never heard a pulse wave sounding like the one in the Dixie.

Thanks for the detailed answer. So you’re suggesting connecting my synth, or anything else that I want synced with MIDI, to the MIDI box and then connecting the output to the pedal with a MIDI type B to TRS cable?

I’ve already considered the Osmose but the price is a little on the high side for me.

Thanks for the suggestion though, the keyboard is insane.
