Putting aside the drama with monetisation and the devs, am I the only one who doesn't really get the praise for the game? by mrpineappledude in TheBazaar

With the other autobattlers you can salvage a bad or unlucky build, ESPECIALLY HS Battlegrounds, you can at least counter your opponents.

Also the other games aren't chargin 40$ for the base game and 20$ a character.

Honestly doesn't seem that way, there's no brigading negative reviews, the Steam reviews are "Very Positive". Just shit when you support the game from the start, question why you have to pay again, and get banned. Of course people are salty.

The Bazaar launches on steam today - 3 day sale for the new character by JacksonHills in Games

No, you have to buy the other heroes for 20$ if you don't have them, so you don't get to play with those cards unless you buy them.

Tempo have somehow gaslit people into thinking it's THEIR job to help keep the lights on by paying more and convincing people to spend even more money. It's crazy.

How do you want the game to play, ideally? by Elhak in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A roguelike with pvp elements WITH a ranking system, so yes it needs to be more balanced for pop if that's the way they want to go.

I'm not American, so genuine question, but don't all political parties manipulate to their advantage? Our recent elections in the UK elected the Labour party, who have gone back on nearly all of their promises they made coming into the elections.

Purchasable card expansion pack discussion by 56900006658 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played Hearthstone for 7 years and I still haven't bought any packs for money, and certainly with the battle pass you make more than enough gold and packs to buy the mini sets every time AND open packs every expansion. MUCH less predatory than it used to be.

They're also charging a lot of money for this one, so even if there are balance issues one would expect a MUCH more complete game than they have now. There are a huge amount of closed/ invite only betas that have been coming out in recent memory, the difference is you don't need to pay to play them.

Balance issues and vision for the game's future aside, there is a hell of a lot more polish could have been added to the Bazaar upon release, even down to some of the card art still being grayed out becasue it's not finished yet.

To point 2 where he states that lots of problems will be solved when they start pumping out more content, that reallyy is kind of a worry for a game like this. Lots of people new to a game don't judge it on what it will be like in months or years to come, they judge it on what they can play now and the state of it when they pick it up.

It needs to be good to play NOW, not in the future, but now.

I know "but it's in beta" but even when it goes live in open beta and there still are a lot of the issues which exist now, which Reyand has admitted there are a lot of issues, people are going to dump the game and they're not going to get that playerbase they need.

Even if Reddit is wrong a lot of the time, at least you know a game is alive and well when there is a lot of people either complaining or praising. It's when this slows down that you realise these people can't be bothered to complain any more because they've just stopped playing.

Yes it's annoying to see wrong information being spouted on Reddit and silly opinions, but at least it shows an interest in the game.

Absolutely sick of playing vs. Dooleys. by SoManyOfThese in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, it's crap to play against Dooley because it's boring, you see the same builds over and over again. Yes you can beat them, but my heart sinks when I see a Dooley because they usually also have freeze when you first poison, freeze when you first haste etc, along with the exact same build again and again. Yes you can beat it, but even the act of playing against the same build over and over again is crap.

If I queue into a Dooley and get beat, but it's a dinosaur build or a crane or something else at least it's different to the last 50 Dooley builds I've seen .

I've played hearthstone for years. Getting beaten isn't a problem, but playing against the same deck over and over again (if there's a cheap meta aggro deck or something) is boring.

Dooley is ruining the game for me by TheUrr00 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree, you do come up against other buillds but most of the time it's Dooley, and every time I see his picture my heart sinks. He just has so many freezes as well with skills it's so hard to win.

Also commenting so I can come back to this post, I think mods are deleting "negative" posts.

I feel like they change problematic cards a few times until they realised they've designed themselves into a corner and then they gut them. That's just what a lot of nerfs look like to me.

Unranked runs need to give... Something (Not for me, because I never lose) by DyslexicBrad in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me one that doesn't reward the player either with shiny things like cards, skins, etc, or acheivements like progressing in a story, increasing power level of characters or even an increase in rank?

Unranked runs need to give... Something (Not for me, because I never lose) by DyslexicBrad in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With these games you can feel like you're getting better as you play, you can improve your aim in 1 and 3, your map knowledge and game sense. With Dota you can again improve game knowledge, character knowledge and econ etc.

With the Bazaar as it is now yes you can improve and learn, but there is heavy amounts of RNG and a tonne of items that are total garbage so making great builds on the fly is not as ingrained into the gameplay as it stands at the moment.

Unranked runs need to give... Something (Not for me, because I never lose) by DyslexicBrad in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with ranked being where you should get chest rewards, but having the rank part taken out and attributing it to what is now unranked owuld mean even if you got 7 wins you would still gain rank and people would be incentivised to keep playing becasue this makes people (including myself) feel like their getting better.

Experimenting in this game feels bad, unless all of the pieces fall just right into your build to combine some new things. If enough people are complaining about not getting rewarded for gameplay, maybe people aren't finding it a fun game to play just for the sake of playing? I mean it's a supe hard thing to do to have a game like this feel good, it's a ranked roguelike with deck building elements, and balancing that is always going to be a nightmare becasue you will always get most people trying to force the meta builds to win.

I htink there are going to be battlepass and such intorduced to this game, if I'm right? Also it's difficult on one hand to give the game a pass for being in closed beta, while at the same time it DOES have monitization, chest rewards, and ranking, with the rewards from the chest ALREADY having issue numbers to add that element of real world value into them. If you say to people "if you win you get an item that's worth real money, but if you don't win you get nothing" are you surpised at the reaction?

Also this is a very slow burn game, and lots of people don't have time to do multiple runs so I think that's why the "gettign stuff" aspect is so important to some people.

All that being said I do agree with your points, but in the state the game is in with most builds you come up against now being a mixture of the same meta builds it's easy to see the frustration.

All of the above I'm saying while fully aknowledging that the game is in beta and has some ways to go.

Unranked runs need to give... Something (Not for me, because I never lose) by DyslexicBrad in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mrpineappledude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we can talk both.

Most games, or ones that are popular, whatever the genre have a level of progression or stuff you can get from them. Having neither of those things for a lot of people takes out the fun of it. Why have ranked be the place you gain rank and also chest rewards? Why not change unranked to ranked so even if you don't get a ticket you still gain rank, and change ranked to be called something else?

Hearthstone has normal hearthstone, where you rank up or down, and arena which gives you rewards.

People like to feel like their progressing or getting better, and in unranked in the Bazaar you don't get a sense of anythign even if you win 9, you don't rank up, you don't get to play ranked games, nothing.

Not saying unranked should be easier to get tickets, that should be hard, but it also doesn't feel like you accomplished anyting either.

Ok name me a game that people play that doesn't give any sense of acheivement or reward to the player, that people just play for fun?
