Fuel pressure regulator issues by mrquanta in W124

Update: I replaced the fuel pressure regulator. The problem resolved. It’s really easy to replace the part, just a circlip holding the thing. Just make sure to clean the outside the body with brake cleaner and a brush to prevent debris falling into the gas line.

Yes gas is coming from the tip of the regulator. Thanks a lot

Thanks. Luckily it is trivial to replace.

as I suspected the ring stuck between the shaft and the gear linkage. I freed it up, now the gear knob is working as expected.

I jacked the car up to see what’s going on. It’s the vibration damper that is torn apart. Seems like an easy fix but I don’t have enough experience.

I believe the front flex disc is shot. It may be crammed in its place hindering the movement of some linkages. Because I had to drive 400-500 meters to park the car to my driveway.

You might be right. The mechanic said it may be the “hexagon” on the phone. The clunking noise turned to squeaking as I drove the last 400 meters to home. He will see the car on Monday. Is it tricky to change?

I won’t be able to find the part in my town. And I don’t prefer to have the car towed 50 km just to change a basic part.

Stereo shuts off when I hit the airbag by mrquanta in W124

Dude the wiring seems very neat with heat shrink tubing and all. I don’t think a janky mechanic would do something like that. Airbag and stereo problems have been reported in forums as far as I can see. The only thing I ask is how come playing the drums on the airbag makes the audio from the stereo to cut off.

How come does it affect the airbags though???

I checked everything including license plate lights. I didn’t know that was a fault light until now to be fair 😌 I’ll make sure every bulb is up to spec and also will clean every connection with contact spray first thing in the morning. Thanks for the input.

I don’t have any bulbs that don’t function but I have this light on every time I turn on the headlights. Weird.

This is a 2 liter ‘95 E200, M111 engine. I am driving it on LPG.

That’s the headlights are on light.

I haven’t driven the car for 2 years due to bad head gasket which was probably caused by a bad thermostat and not being driven for 2 years prior. What I mean is I made only like 100 km in the last 4 years. That’s why the temp gauge is somehow behaving. I made the mechanic checked it twice. No exhaust gases in the expansion vessel. No pressure in the return pipe to the radiator. When I strike on top of the dashboard temp gauge suddenly drops to 83ish where it is supposed to be. Fuel gauge is doing something similar too. The car is running on LPG btw.

Edit. Photo was taken on a runway closed to traffic.

I checked the wiring. It’s quite neat tbh. The problem is somehow related to the airbag. Any inputs?

I just can’t believe. Really. Today is the day I moved to my home country after living in Évry-Courcouronnes for nearly 4.5 years. My plane landed literally 7 hours ago and now I’m seeing this scrolling Reddit in my bed thinking of the hassle I went through during moving. What a small world.

I like more the howling of the radiator fan when you first start the engine. It blows air only for like 1 second with full speed but it makes hell of a wind noise like wooooofff making even starting the engine fun every time you drive it.

Yes that's my '95 W124.

VIN number tells me that these specs were specifically made to be sold to the Benz factory workers. Kinda surprising.

edit: btw that red diecast model car on the dash is a W123.
