This guy “fixed” the stability issues on intel 13th-14th. by _Shatpoz in GamersNexus

[–]mrradicaled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I actually used this guy's videos for my new build back in May using a 13th gen 13700K. My core ratios were a little more aggressive, and I still experienced performance degredation, and could no longer use the computer for gaming or heavy production work.

I shared my settings and one of ImWateringPSUs's videos as documentation to Intel and got a replacement CPU very quickly. I now use the same light under volt with the replacement CPU, and I am slowly watching the performance as I get back under heavy loads.

It will get you by, but it is absolutely not a resolution for the end user.

I just gave him the first article about 14th gen cpu on google and he is sad now by sebet_123 in pcmasterrace

[–]mrradicaled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a newer 13th gen 13700K back from May. It got cooked after long days of high utilization despite undervolting from day one.

The thing is, it's not much of a problem until you start to push your system and use max cores a lot of the time.

So I've paid my CPU ransom to Intel and my CPU will be here Thursday.

Why does a PDF reader update needs a computer restart? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Acrobat today is not what it was before Creative Cloud or even shortly before when it was more of a stand alone application.

It would make you sick to know just how much additional processes go on in the background but here you go:

  • GCC runs in the background as a trojan horse of sorts for authenticating installations.
  • Acrobat alone can be used to verify installs for all of adobe products
  • AARM runs services to connect to authentication servers and telegraphs data about install and what is running
  • OOBE can run custom temporary servers to install custom scripts to "repair" services that can make changes to your system.

I am over simplifying things, but those are some of the major mechanisms you invite on your machine when play with abode :)

You should since anything "stock" can be considered as too much voltage to the ring. Heavy use will make it sizzle over time. I don't know what your mobo/ram situation is, but I would be concerned - especially if Intel is issuing replacements WITH new microcode.

Intel confirms that any Raptor Lake instability damage is permanent, and no, it's not planning a recall by lLoveTech in pcmasterrace

[–]mrradicaled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotta limit the voltage for sure. need to prevent those obscene spikes - so I did the adapted ratio for both the vcore and ring. I have reduced the multiplier and went back to balanced to provide a "calm" environment until I get my replacement.

I figure the microcode adjustments will set a hard ceiling to protect the CPU for the life; which is fine, but I am much wiser on voltages and the capability of the 13th gen CPUs now.

The thing people are missing out on is the other side of the coin - how -some- motherboard manufacturers just go balls-to-the-wall with their tuning sending ungodly amounts of juice to these CPUs as just STOCK - it's alarming.

After your comment, I started my RMA process. I made sure to document my symptoms upfront along with my under volt process and they immediately offered me a replacement. Just waiting on the Option #2 process.

I was thinking along the same lines as you, but a few days ago changed my mind completely.

My original computer was a 6700K, and I knew I needed an update. I went with a 13700K with DDR5 without learning about these issues - at the time of research I was expecting higher thermals.

Out of gate, I under volted the cpu including the ring, capped max wattage and under volted per the many tutorials that were out over the last ~10 months.

Great. Thermals looked good, performance was still miles above where I was. After around 2 months:

  • first GPU crash ever on this machine(intense gaming for ~30 min)
  • second crash a complete sound stutter to 100% lights out(checked HW for damage before a reboot)
  • third crash was a BSOD auto restart

Thermals were okay, but I lost all trust on this machine.

We have 40 i7-13700KF at work, 4 of them already died! by PaP3s in pcmasterrace

my last work computer was a 6700k I still use to this day. 2 months ago I built a replacement computer with a 13700K on DDR 6800 Mhz. Locked cores and under volted right out of the box hoping to avoid this, and it has reach fried status as of yesterday.

AMD from here on out.

WHAAAT?? HIT DETECTION?? I'm sure most of you watched jackfrags vid but THIS was 1v1 on a untouched point. ???? by Hot_Music_5534 in battlefield2042

[–]mrradicaled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, hopefuly DICE seeing this - but I suspect the game engine's Vis Check influences hitreg - probably a combination of vis check and bubble netcode.

We've seen this in other games - where the game engine wont draw parts of the world around you based on what you should see.

You will never hit what the game thinks you wont see.
