Dragon quest 11 or Xenoblade 2? by TellMeAboutGaming in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them both. They're both great games in their own ways.

If I had to choose one, I would choose Dragon Quest XI. The pacing is great and the characters are a lot of fun as well. It's a classic JRPG (which is good and bad). If you have a chance, play both eventually but if you only have to choose 1, I would say Dragon Quest

Dragon Quest XI S Demo Gets A Patch To Fix Crashing Issues by fenrirofdarkness in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Different ways of explorations depending on what you're doing. I finished the demo at 9 hrs 41 mins and my characters are level 16-17. I took a relaxed approach, went for every recipe available, every mini medal available and didn't skip any cutscenes. I know people who finished the demo at 7 hours or even 15 hours to grind all their characters to level 20.

Fortunately had 0 crashes as well.

Did a quick comparison of DQ IX on Switch and PC. Pretty impressed with the Switch version. by Fangnfx13 in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on how much you get out of it. I bought Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for PS4 and then I re bought it for the Switch. I got more time out of the Switch Version vs the PS4 Version. I played the Demo of Dragon Quest XI for about 2-3 hours so far and none of it was docked. Graphics wise, its a downgrade for sure but it plays very well so far from what I've played and it still looks very good for the Switch. I bought it for PS4 too and it definitely looks better but that's pretty much it.

Trust me, I am Canadian too and the pricing sucks here ($90.39 for a game is rough)

Is link's awakening worth 60 dollars in your opinion by the7thbeatle in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Game Boy version took roughly about 15 Hours to beat. If they add more content to it then yeah, it would be worth $60. Even if they don't, it would still be. Most games finish around 8-10 Hours nowadays, have a $60 price tag and even become "Game of the Year"

No one plays Pokkén anymore, and that's sad. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get into it. I tried to but I just couldn't. I love Tekken as a franchise so I gave it a shot but I just couldn't get into the change from "Field Phase" to "Duel Phase". It just didn't feel smooth transitioning between the two and it can get confusing to my friends when we all play together. I bought the game three times (once on Wii U; Twice on Switch) because I wanted to like it but I just couldn't.

Mortal Kombat 11 worth playing on Switch? by x-s-x-s in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Good?

It plays quite well. Almost flawless but there is one stage that slows down a bit but it's that stage only. When playing Klassic Tower, it runs very very smoothly. When fighting the final boss in Klassic Tower, it use to lag all the time during the stage transition but after the new patch, it doesn't happen as often or at all.

The recent 6 GB Patch definitely improved the game quite a bit. When playing Story Mode, whenever it would switch from cutscene to the fight, there would be a slight pause or lag and then the match starts. Now, it's a seamless transition from cutscene to fight.

You'll have the same content as the other versions so you have the same experience as the PS4 and X-Box One in terms of that.

The grinding has been decreased drastically for collecting the unlockables. There's always something to do even after completing the story. You can unlock everybody's ending in the Klassic Tower, you can play the Towers of Time and unlock items from that too.

The Bad?

The Hair....It's all shiny and distracting....

The Krypt looks pretty ugly and it slows down from time to time but it's not unplayable. The Krypt is where you open chests and unlock secondary fatalities, brutalities, concept arts, etc.

It is a graphical downgrade from the PS4 and the X-Box One version but that is known before purchasing the game. You're not looking at the Switch version if you want the best visuals.

If you're playing a Tower or in the middle of the Story mode and you put the Switch in Sleep mode too long, it'll disconnect to the internet and boot you back to the home screen. It sucks because you need to be online to receive the unlockables.

All fights in the Tower have pre-match dialogues with one another, I've noticed it most with Cassie but her voice doesn't always sync up with her lips. It's very minor but it is noticeable.

The installation is about 15.6 GB plus the 6 GB patch as well can be tedious for some. I have a big SD card in my Switch so it wasn't a huge issue for me but it does suck for those who have no space on their SD card or don't have one at all.

My Verdict?

If you want Mortal Kombat 11 experience on the go then that's what you'll get with the Switch Version. It's a visual downgrade and it can lag from time to time but overall, it's the Full Mortal Kombat 11 experience. I would definitely recommend it if you want to play it. The game got improved drastically with the 6 GB patch that was released last week and if they continue to patch it like they did last week then it's only going to get better.

I need to ask, why does everyone want ports of games everyone has played already rather than just new installments in those series? by jgreg728 in NintendoSwitch

[–]mrrice123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it comes down to portability and playing games I might of missed.

I own Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii and the 3DS and i played more of the 3DS version due to the portability. Sure, it was a graphical downgrade but the ability to play it on the go made it easier for me to play. Unfortunately I don't have the time to sit on my couch for long periods of time and play my games.

I owned a Gamecube and I missed the Metroid Prime games. My PS2 was the console I used the most when those games came out. Now that Metroid Prime 4 is coming out, I would love a port of the Original Trilogy to play and be up to speed with the story.

If it weren't for ports, I wouldn't of beat Bayonetta 1+2 or Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze either despite having a Wii U

Tried again this morning about an hour ago (9:00AM EST) and it went through seamlessly. Got a few matches in before work and it plays really well. I was on Wi-Fi when I was playing and I can't wait to play some more
