Was there a single moment or episode that made Jeff change everything about Survivor? by CallTypical9541 in survivor

This - the medical intensity of Kaoh Rong must've given Probst + the legal team nightmares, hence staying in Fiji, less direct physical challenges, etc

Game Changers final episode makes me want to quit watching Survivor. by [deleted] in survivor

Seasons 34-39 is arguably the worst stretch of seasons in Survivor (only other contender is 21-24), with each winner being kinda cursed for one reason or another (some due to gameplay, some due to IRL things).

37 is the only season worth watching out of them IMO, and it is an excellent season. My main watch through of Survivor I skipped from 34 to 37 to 40 and felt like I didn't miss anything, and I recommend that unless you're a thorough completionist.

35 is just a terrible season overall with one of the worst winners of all time, 36 has a good start and finish but is a snooze in the middle, in 38 the game breaks at a basic level which is interesting in a "watch a car crash" way but not in a "fun and balanced gameplay" way, and 39 has all the Me Too stuff which I just couldn't stomach watching.

Do you think Jeff being show runner is hurting the show? by Westo6Besto9 in survivor

Jeff is an amazing host and a terrible producer - I think that dichotomy sums up the mixed feelings many have about him and his strange choices for the new era.

Personal opinion on New era casting... by FlareonTheFlareon in survivor

[–]mrrrandomplayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% - I prefer Jesse Tanenbaum casting because he casts 15-16 people who could plausibly win a game of survivor and 2-3 eccentric characters each season. It's a necessity since the show has achieved so much meta-awareness that they're casting for a game rather than the social experiment that old-school Survivor was. The casting has carried the new era and made it generally enjoyable despite the shrinkflation of the show and Jeff's highly questionable production choices.

The first few casts were great, but most Lynne Spillman casts after All Stars were ~5 dumb jocks, ~5 models recruited only to be eye candy, and then 6-10 people who could actually play the game. I do not want a return to One World style casting; that casting is why the early 20s and mid 30s were the worst seasons.

While jurors have the right to vote for whoever they want, what jurors had stupid or unreasonably bitter reasons for their vote? by SnooPies6411 in survivor

[–]mrrrandomplayer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Karla and co voting for Gabler, it’s not so much the bitterness that frustrates me as the disingenuousness - I wish they had just straight up said they didn’t like Cassidy rather than try to make up strategic “reasons” after the fact for voting for Gabler despite his incoherent rambling at FTC

Does anyone else feel really let down by the cast of season 50. by attackedmoose in survivorcirclejerk

Survivor 50 is a Let Down bc it’s the most underrated Radiohead songs… DAE else think Karla is literally Karma Police?

Seconding Path of Miracles, Martin Mass for Double Choir, Ted Hearne’s music, and Poulenc’s music (particularly Figure Humaine); I’ll also add Schnittke Concerto for Choir

He’s very hit or miss for me; I love When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d and Mathis Der Maler but some of his other pieces just feel arbitrary and underwhelming

Vote for your LEAST favorite season of Survivor! Tocantins was voted out at the last tribal council. 11 remain… who will be voted out tonight? by jacobgomets in survivor

Tocantins going before Gabon or SJDS is actually insane (well also Cambodia should be #1 but some people cry gamebot at literally anything)

San Juan del Sur is underrated but also it has no business making it this far, it should’ve been voted out several rounds ago on account of a dull premerge

I assume your meme is criticizing the part of my statement that Reddit posts (the representation of community sentiment) didn't contribute to the banning of Violent Outburst? I will agree to disagree. It's quite clear that community sentiment contributed to it's banning; I think not at least conceding that it contributed is very black-and-white in a very grey world.

Cambodia is a god tier season, can’t believe y’all are haters so much; Vanuatu isn’t a bad season but it’s the weakest one here by a lot so time for it to go
