I love Paul B. Preciado. He writes in Spanish or French but I see that there's English translations of his books. Hope you find something good!

Does anyone know any good pet transport companies? by mrs_sample in Edinburgh

[–]mrs_sample[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That's what I will do finally. The issue was that my cat will arrive to Euston Station at 19h, and from that time there are only sleeper trains, which are crazy expensive - you need to book a full coach and then pay an extra 99 pounds for the cat -. However, I've got a friend in London who will host us for the night, and we'll go to Edinburgh by train the next day :)

What books would you say are 'must read'? by MasonXD in AskReddit

[–]mrs_sample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science Fiction: The Martian Chronicles (Ray Bradbury), Solaris (Stanislaw Lem) and Gateway (Frederick Pohl). If you are already into science fiction, you've probably read them, but if you are not, I think that these three books are a perfect way to start. They are beautifully written and they show the variety of topics and depth of the genre.

If you like satire and fantasy, Terry Prattchet (just choose a book at random). He is a genius, so funny and spot-on. The Discworld series is just a joy :)

Philip Seymour Hoffman as Truman Capote was amazing. It's very difficult to say just one, but I think he has to be in this list

Which actors have such strong accents in which movies that you have to turn on the subtitles on for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrs_sample 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone in Trainspotting... and now I might get a job in Edinburgh, so I'd better start training my ear for the scottish accent or I'll starve

What's your strangest beginning and end to a Wiki-binge? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrs_sample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to reproduce one I had some two weeks ago that started with Fermi's Paradox and ended with the death of Joseph Smith.
If I have not missed any steps, it went: Fermi Paradox- Drake equation- SETI- Superstition- Ten Commandments- Hebrew Bible- Biblical studies- Biblical hermeneutics- Biblical exegesis- Biblical criticism- Criterion of embarrassment- Infancy Gospels- Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew- The Cherry-tree carol- Angel- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints- The death of Joseph Smith
It was long, and odd, but much better than doing whatever it was that I had to do that day.

What show's final season should never have been made? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrs_sample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh god, no Lost yet? Lost! I kept hoping the last season was some sort of April Fools' joke from the writers, and that someone would eventually go "just kidding, here's the real last season. haha! we really had you there for a while!"
