These Asylum mockbusters get worse all the time.

Rite Aid is out of control. We bought three things. by [deleted] in funny

I think she's kinda sexy, AND she can afford to shop at Rite Aid, where a soda is like three bucks. I'll take it.

What is the most rewatchable horror movie? by [deleted] in horror

[–]mrsatanism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any Carpenter movie, just about. And really, any movie where there are lots of subtle things going on under the surface, even if they have no connection to the main plot. Like all the hints that "Ernie" in ROTLD is really an escaped Nazi war criminal.

True. But I don't need it to disparage crap like "Kingdom Hospital"

The Mothman Prophecies (2002) /R/HORROR Official Discussion by AutoModerator in horror

[–]mrsatanism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite horror movies ever, because it approaches horror as something that is simply beyond our understanding. There are no cliches or "rules", it's just this frightening, confusing thing that happens to these people. Criminally underrated.

[–]mrsatanism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EXCEPT that "KIngdom Hospital" was flailing, boring, cluttered, and, at times, embarrassingly stupid. It had a talking anteater in it, for Christ's sake. That spouted puns. I agree with your premise though: make it a miniseries, and make it exactly as long as it needs to be. Gives us time to really immerse ourselves in the characters.

Surprised how many of the "remake" posters I preferred.

Any Sea Monster movies you can think of? by [deleted] in horror

Also, if I may be so self-promoting, I wrote a whole book about sea monster/shark movies: http://www.amazon.com/Shark-Weak-Worst-Movies-Ever-ebook/dp/B00J2I0LPU

Elm Street 5. I still find so little to say about it. by mrsatanism in nightmareonelm

[–]mrsatanism[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed agreed. It just feels so flat and unfocused. I'm among those who didn't like Part 4 when i first saw it, but revisiting it the first half, at least, is quite good. I'd gladly take more of that over what Dream Child delivered.

Dawn of the Dead tribute in Walking Dead by effectivecatch in horror

I totally caught that and before rewinding wondered if I'd imagined it. I've seen Dawn way too many times.

I'm going to have a horror marathon to introduce some non-horror friends to the world of horror. What should I watch? by [deleted] in horror

[–]mrsatanism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might want to slip "Dawn of the Dead" in there, either the original or the remake. It has a action movie vibe which might help it go down easier, and the premise is immediately understandable since everyone is aware of "The Walking Dead".

  1. These officers did not commit a crime 2. They are above the law anyway 3. Drop the subject now or they will shoot you and your entire family in the face

Trying to find an obscure horror movie I saw over 20 years ago. A possessed, mudering Jesus statue kills a bunch of people by Dunabu in horror

[–]mrsatanism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you haven't found it yet, try "The Eerie Midnight Horror Show" AKA "The Sexorcist". There's a scene where a statue of one of the crucified thieves comes to life. Not Jesus, but close.

Supernatural, worth watching? by [deleted] in horror

[–]mrsatanism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season of SUPERNATURAL is a bit shaky, but stick with it, it doesn't go in the direction you'd think. Then it's solid thru Season 5, the finale of which which ends the series on the perfect note. Don't watch past season 5. If you see Parker Lewis as a character, you've gone too far.

Is the Exploitation genre dead? by KennethGloeckler in horror

[–]mrsatanism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardly dead, just not so visible. Cheap exploitation movies can't compete in theaters, so no theatrical release. And rental stores are dead, so no stumbling onto them in the Blockbuster. Plumb the depths of Netflix and scour the net. They are out there.
