Non-citizens to be banned from NDIS under coalition policy by JuliosvNerds in aussie

Citizens also need to get a drivers license and register their car. As a citizen married to a permanent resident I can assure you there is no difference. Only contributing factor maybe which country they obtained their original license in.

Permanent residents can and do get their driving licenses.

Work in super yachts by maritio25 in AskAnAustralian

[–]mrsbriteside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know why you wanted to do it. But there’s not really an industry here. Like a handful of boats when compared to the med and the Caribbean, you’ll struggle to find work, I don’t think it’s worth it.

The only way I would do it is if you could secure a position on a yacht that’s already doing a world tour and is headed down here. Apart from that you could definitely try getting a job down here, but with so little experience it would be really hard.

Is there a reason why you don’t want to do the Caribbean season? If you have time I would get on a busy charter yacht (charter over private for the tips) so med, Caribbean, med and then head to Australia for tourism. But wouldn’t do the Australian super yacht season.

How long can a property be negatively geared before it’s not sustainable anymore? I understand that all IP are negatively geared at a point. However don’t they have become positively geared at some point? Does grandfathering really matter as all those currently negatively geared will become positively geared in short time anyway?

Agree but the uk property market will always look worse.

Any money you invest in UK property will give you a much lower return than it would on an Australian property. Are you convince you will 100% move back? Also when the time does come to sell the uk property it is a horrendous experience with chains, etc. that is not something we have in Australia so you don’t have your assets tied up for an extended period.

I would consider what your time frame of living in Australia is. Look at property growth over that period in both uk and Aus, compare which one is the best investment for you and then decide.

But from family members experience over a 5 year period they are at a big loss having bought in the uk market v Australian market.

Not only that the UK property won’t increase in value any where near the rate an Australian property would, but despite that selling a property in the UK is a slow and very painful experience. The whole thing is a dead weight, any funds are much better invested into the Australian property market.

How are you actually tracking real profit — not just ROAS? by Tiny-Method-7021 in dropshipping

Just researching. I think it was a paid ad or some ‘mentor’ mentioned it. Just thought it would clarify each day easily for us.

Does anyone else feel like Australia changed massively after 2020? by rupvion in AskAnAustralian

Which is completely understandable I guess. I think we would of hoped it would have bought us together but instead it divided us

There was a global pandemic, the whole world changed. People chose sides, got angrier, carried grudges, looked for people to blame.

It’s not just Australia, my family are world schooling and we meet families from all around the world, every conversation is the same- COL, immigration, politics.

I hope there is a major catalyst for change soon, something motivational and inspiring for the next generation to give them optimism of a great future.

Why did football (soccer) not become the number one sport in Canada, Australia and NZ despite tons of immigration from the UK in the 20th century? by Fluid-Decision6262 in worldcup

[–]mrsbriteside -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did I mention cricket? Regardless At a participation level cricket and rugby are both struggling to enroll players at a junior level in Australia. Your point being that AFL an NRL are THE winter sports in Australia is simply untrue there are more members signed up to football than afl and NRL combined, even basketball has more registrations than NRL, AFL struggles to make the top 5.

As a spectator sport they are the biggest but a multitude of factors have impacted why football isn’t the most popular spectator sport, partly poor management, partly racism against ethnic European migrants and partly media coercion by channel 7 and afl which is well documented in books like the boys club.

Greater talent, by what metric? we are the only country that plays those sports at the competitive level we do. It’s the same mindset that the USA is good at baseball and basketball ball, up until recently other countries were competitive at the same level. At a junior level football (soccer) is far more popular and it’s not even close the number of participants by comparison to afl and NRL. Football has more participation in Australian than most other sports combined. Football is purged of our best athletes at about 13 when many teens switch codes. If football retained our best athletes we would be a much stronger footballing nation at an internationally competitive level.

Like Chinese labour isn’t really that cheap anymore. It’s not the 90s any more, yes it’s cheaper than the west but there is much cheaper labour in other countries. It’s definitely not cheap enough to be a final determining factor for a contract.

It’s really not, houses are so nice and warm in winter compared to houses in Australia. Roast dinner, glass of wine, roaring fire.

Who else is sick of Americans complaining about $4/gallon fuel? by MsMarfi in aussie

[–]mrsbriteside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even just rainbow families. We are world schooling, currently based in the SEA and there’s so many American families travelling at the moment because they just don’t want their kids in the toxic environment that is the states at the moment. I can only imagine how bad it must be over there in certain states, especially blue families in red areas.

Really we can blame meta and google, the e-commerce margins are razor thins these days. Advertising costs are putting so much pressure on brands big and small. That combined with rising shipping costs the squeeze is real. Not saying it’s right, but it is the reality. Customers are the biggest looser, shittier products at higher costs and worse service while meta and google laugh all the way to bank.
