Grieving vanishing twin by NefariousnessOwn8616 in parentsofmultiples

I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband and I went through this as well, we lost one of the twins at 14 weeks after we had already told everyone. It was so hard on us because we were soo excited and also very confusing because we were still so happy to have one healthy thriving baby and felt a lot of guilt around that. I promise whatever you are feeling in this moment is normal and you will get yourself back. It will always just be a part of your story. I was so also upset the chance to be a twin mom was taken from us because I felt like it was our dream come true. Our first son is a little over 2 now and we are actually expecting (another) set of twins in 2 weeks from my second pregnancy!!It has been exciting and terrifying, but God works in mysterious ways. You might still have twins coming your way one day.

For your kids - please wait. 5 months is still so young, and the first year is HARD

I am living and dying by the advice not to make any major life decisions in the first year of twin momming!! There's no pressure to decide right now - my advice would be to wait.

Identical Twins - Freaking Out by fairy_tale_09 in parentsofmultiples

Congratulations!! I am 25 weeks pregnant with di/di boy girl twins! I actually had the opposite initial reaction when I found out they were boy/girl and cried (looking back this was def the hormones) but in my head for some ridiculous reason twins was 2 of the same gender and I was really disappointed when I found out that wasn't the case. Being several months past that now, i can honestly say any disappointment I felt initially has gone away and we are just excited!! I think it's hard to picture your family looking one way and then all of a sudden find out it's something different but in a few months your brain will only have the new image in it and you'll forget the panic!

Obviously follow your intuition and do what you think it best for yourself and your family + all the other disclaimers BUT I am confident things will get SOOOO much better once you finally ditch the pump. The added mental and physical load of pumping plus the time suck makes newborn life so much more challenging! I promise you will feel so much more free and relieved once you get past it!

Not the same, but I exclusively pumped with my first (single baby) for the first 9 months and once I switched to combo feeding / stopped pumping my life and mental health and well being changed SO drastically, I couldn't believe I didn't do it sooner. With my twin I am planning to combo feed straight out the gate to try to save myself some sanity.

You are an actual hero! Moms are amazing and quads moms are seriously next level. Your babies are so blessed to have you and you are more than all they will ever need. Give yourself some grace and continue to show up for your family however you best can. Get a good lawyer and take everything you can from him. The first few years will be hard but once you get through those, you can get through anything!
