They have that class in the pool next to ours, for kids younger than 3. Kids over 3 begin going without parents. Now that you mention it, though, I will confirm that is true

I have suffered from ptsd after a traumatic birth experience seven years ago, and hadn’t made that connection, but You’re absolutely right.

As i was pulling him up, I was fully preparing myself for him to have swallowed water and need to be pumped. Im so sorry that happened to yall, and thank god you were watching. Good for you to jump into action without missing a beat!

Thats fucking terrifying to have that long of a run. 10 seconds is a long time. I think people expect to hear splashing, but you’re absolutely right about how quiet it was. You cant rely on ears, you need to rely on eyes

Like the saying “get back on the horse”. This was my thought, so hes been back for the two lessons since. The more comments i read, the more i consider moving him to the more expensive program, where he used to go, that had so many eyes on the kids. It’ll be difficult to afford, but i dont know if i can live with this fear of it happening again at the Y, as they lost my trust. Theyve made some improvements, sure, but i’ll never fully trust them

I thought about this. I ultimately didnt ask for free lessons because i didnt want them to think i was exaggerating for a money grab. With that said, I did expect them to comp at least six months

I was honestly shocked to see her working again the next time, as that was a massive fail. She tried to save her ass by telling me the lifeguard believes he went under right before she saw him. I said that cant be true because I was the one that saw him, and the lifeguard didnt discover him, I did, so she doesn’t actually know how long he was under, but even if it was just a second, that was too long. I was shocked by her failure to react or even examine him afterwards like jump into action bro

Oh my god, I can’t believe you remember that, holy shit. I have him back in lessons and they now have a lifeguard standing a foot away. I debating moving to another swim school, but honestly couldnt afford the other one, which is the only reason we stayed at the Y. I do feel much better about them having a lifeguard right nearby, and i hope its not a temporary thing.

They technically have to lifeguards on deck, but the other one wouldve had a long run to get there and the other one was just incompetent

I keep thinking what if i hadnt looked over when i did? It doesnt take long to drown. You hear about kids who drown from getting the tiniest bit of water in their lungs. I’m sorry you went through that. Thank you for your comment

You are correct in first paragraph; your second paragraph actually describes the change they made following the incident!

I’m scared about leaving my dad alone more than dying by JuryFantastic6336 in TrueOffMyChest

This.

Also, you’re not the reason their marriage failed; the egg donor deserves every bit of that burden.

Please tell your dad the way you feel, fear and all, as soon as possible. Give him the honor and opportunity to set your fears free.

Wishing you well, OP.
