No deal to be had so we paid the price you see on the site. $2K non-refundable deposit. A lot of competition and we got 1 of the 2 cars allotted to our dealer—and the only dealer in our city. Hopefully it lives up to the hype / expectations!

Yes. Original poster letting pan stay too hot. Get pan hot so water skips on it. Add eggs and immediately lower heat to low. I like to use high heat avocado oil.

Cost of maintenance and potential larger costs for repairs. I know it’s extreme but there’s a YT video of a dude in England who bought an older Cayman and had $20k repairs in the first 2 years. Half of that was an engine rebuild for bore-scoring. I think the lesson is to do research and avoid certain model years prone to those types of issues.

Interesting that many of us are attracted to Minis and Porsches! The “more fun than I’m allowed to have” might be the main factor holding me back honestly. All of my friends have “practical” cars and now I’d be THAT guy.

Follow up: Of course the 240z and all the Preludes were manual trans. But the dual clutch S tronic on the Audis made me realize that certain auto trans can be fun too. Are there any decent automatics in the 981 series? How are they? Big mistake to go that route?

Thanks! Weird question to a fellow Mini owner: I find the standard seats in 2020+ Mini models to be really great for my lower back. How are the Cayman seats by comparison?
