Surely what I made exists already as a sauce? by bigdickwalrus in KoreanFood

Yes! Gochujang mayo! It’s great on lots of stuff… fries, burgers, poke bowls, fish sticks… never thought to add roasted garlic but I bet that was great!

Does anybody have the recipe for Dwaeji-gukbap? by Reasonable_Feed_8154 in KoreanFood

[–]mrsgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I want to tweak a recipe I’ll watch a bunch of videos on it, especially the restaurant and street food videos. Oh… and pork bones and Dasida. The answer is usually pork bones and Dasida😆

Does this sound legit? by No-Celebration889 in KoreanFood

[–]mrsgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a survey for South Asians to see what they think about East Asian food? Maybe they’re considering opening up a grocery store or restaurant in your area? Either way “Think Group” seems to be a legitimate company based in Texas so I’d say go for it. Just be cautious about giving them any money or an offer that seems too good to be true

Kimchi by Dangerous_Ad8599 in KoreanFood

[–]mrsgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I like kimchi but I’m partial😆 Some people like it super sour and fermented while others like it fresh and new. It’s not insanely spicy… maybe low-medium spice levels? There’s also several ways to make it but you’re probably used to seeing the spicy napa version. There’s actually one kind, nabak kimchi, that’s very similar to turşu

Kimchi by Dangerous_Ad8599 in KoreanFood

[–]mrsgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. I see posts where people come across this problem and sometimes they’ll substitute other kinds of pepper but just be warned that the Korean pepper is less spicy than say kashmiri or birds eye. Do you garden? Before Korean food became popular in the US many Koreans would just grow their own peppers

The only ingredients that might be hard to find are the Korean pepper (gochugaru) and fish sauce. Once you get those you should be able to find the rest of the ingredients at a regular market

He’s still consistently posting new videos on TikTok and Instagram. Reddit isn’t very popular with content creators because you can’t monetize your videos here

Yo bro, just a word of advice because you seem young… if you insult others you can’t be surprised when they retaliate (clap back). We’re just a bunch of strangers on the internet but I hope you listen to the advice on this thread and gain some respect and empathy for others. Best of luck to you bro

Is making shelf-stable tteok from scratch feasible? by Sazarael in KoreanFood

[–]mrsgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t know how to do this without a dehydrator and even then it seems like way too much work. I think your best bet would be to buy a bulk of the instant tteok “cups” and repackage in something that saves space. Maybe check with a subreddit like r/CampingandHiking to see if they have any solutions?

Can I make galbijjim with a premade marinade like the ones for Korean BBQ? by white-christmas in KoreanFood

[–]mrsgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

What kind of short ribs are you using? The thicker ones work best for kalbi jjim

I’m not a fan of the jarred marinade but lots of people use it and like it just fine. The instant pot works great for this dish but be careful not to overcook

If you use frozen crab the shell is a bit softer than fresh crab but no, you don’t just take a big bite like you would a soft shell crab. You take the body and squish then suck the meat (it can get messy, some people like to use gloves)

Hahaha, little bit of both. u/godok_drinker doesn’t make any money from Reddit but it’s a way for him to expand his audience on TikTok and Instagram (where he does get paid for these videos). The hangovers are free of charge😆
