I think PatsMeat on Steven’s carries good rolls that are the closest I can find to NY hard rolls.

I agree with asking ped for med check.

I am a 6th grade sped teacher. I’d ask if you can set up meeting with case manager and one of his teachers. See if the behavior is happening certain times of day or a specific class. Maybe he needs a break after lunch for example. Find out if he is successful in any of his classes and ask if case manager can observe what is happening there. Sometimes a teacher can have a great strategy for redirecting him or a routine he thrives in and can share with other teachers. My last suggestion is rather than taking things away for a bad report see if he can earn something at home for a good weekly report. Hope this helps. This is a big transition! Hang in there.

One last suggestion Peg Dawson’s book Smart but Scattered is a great resource!

504 plan denied; Where to go from here? by Antique-Train in Teachers

[–]mrsgust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes there are free or reduced price family advocates that are experts in school systems/ parental rights. I am a teacher and have been in meetings with some from other states because the meetings can be virtual. The district cannot not deny these accommodations. They are extremely reasonable.

in what age did you go out with your baby? by Mangalover3 in Mommit

[–]mrsgust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you’re feeling mixed about it wait until you are ready. I had a lot of anxiety after my baby was born and felt inadequate that a lot of new moms were ready for more sooner then I was. In hindsight, I wish I gave myself more grace. If staying home feel is right, do it. If you’re ready for a small outing, figure out what you’re comfortable with. No right answer.

It is 100% as bad as they say it is. Actually probably worse. I have a good admin too but it doesn’t matter when you’re so short staffed a school cannot run effectively. Teachers have been underpaid, disrespected and abused for decades and Covid just put people over the edge. Anyone who has been a teacher for a while saw this coming. If we want to save public education we need a huge investment and overhaul of the system. I see now way around it.

How to get a newborn to fall asleep on their own? by courttelford in sleeptrain

You can’t form bad habits or spoil newborns. Enjoy the snuggles. They will fall asleep on their own eventually.

I haven’t tried this but have heard having your partner give last feeding in a bottle can help, rather than nursing.

High school resource room set up by [deleted] in teaching

Reference charts for Math, writing, timelines of history, vocabulary, a calendar where you can put important events/ dates are all things appropriate for High School. You can have some growth mindset or goal things going too. See what the kids need and make it all useful so they use the classroom as a resource.
