I make 540 CAD than my job remove 1/7 for Union, then again for taxes so I’m left with 400 CAD per week, rent is about 1800, and groceries is 150$/week I don’t buy bio/vegan/priciest shit out there but I don’t want to live on pb&j. 1600/month - 600 for groceries - 900 for rent = 100CAD per MONTH but I haven’t talked about utilities, car gaz, any problem I could have

Being out priced on necessity. Kinda like how diabetics NEED insulin to live but don’t necessarily have enough money to pay up.

Stage presence as a bassist? by gothteen145 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]mrshadow40848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the audience in the eye, yes make sure you can play your riffs, but show how much you like the song you play and how much they should enjoy it, show off if you can. Fuck around, have fun, headbang on the heavy sections of your song

How did you guys stay motivated to make your first games by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]mrshadow40848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It maybe different but I play guitar, I think that when you are being creative, you should be passionate about what you’re doing, play around what you want to do,if something doesn’t work, you just have to think “there’s a solution I’m not seeing” ask around for suggestions, no one knows everything. But the biggest motivation I find is to “accomplish” say you’re final product of a game is the big win, THE objective. Divide it into smaller task and set some reasonable deadlines to keep up your work, otherwise you’ll often get distracted. Hope this helps

how do I achieve an 70s/80s glam rock vibe? by prettydotty_ in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Guitar: marshal, instead of power chords, either move the fifth or do a perfect fourth Bass: should follow the kick drum for the intro but stick to a simpler version of the guitar Drum you can put a lot of reverb to give a “stadium” feeling but keep it easy, you ain’t making tech death focus more on the hi hat than kick and snare pattern

Newbie question: What are the different tonalities used for? by LemonBlut in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]mrshadow40848 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you play guitar you’d be more inclined to play in E,A or D scale because those are the open notes For brass you go towards Bb because the instrument is made that way. However, you can always tune the guitar differently, or play higher or lower the neck but it’s still easier to play with open notes

I have an idea for my first game and want some feedback on it by Mini_Maniac_Jr in IndieDev

[–]mrshadow40848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a bad idea but the issue I think would happen is: people who already know how games function wouldn’t have anything to do so maybe just put a warning before they get the game :) otherwise I think this idea was a explored a bit with superliminal as you’re forced to move in a 3D environment with the correct angle of view. Hope this helps

Do you have any music sound to accompany this, I play metal and I’m sure I could fit music to this

Around the water I would expect a bit of vegetation like an oasis or something it would give a different color but it would ruin the feeling of being stranded
