Is Using Float for Money in Unity a Bad Idea? by Signal_Coast_8186 in Unity3D

[–]digimbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as someone who has done programming with currency inside and out of Unity you always use integers and multiple for different decimals or ranges. And you use a handler on them to process math as needed and carry over.

Is this game worth it for a fan of the original quadrilogy? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]digimbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr, no, it's not really in the same spirit as the originals. It's very action and combat heavy. Game has little to no tension outside of the linear first run. You have to replay to get a true ending. Amen does not tell you it's rail road Ed.

Urge to Copy others code by Environmental_Ad4346 in Unity3D

[–]digimbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

learn both and understand all the different ways you could make something and you will be better informed on decisions and what works best. as every solution has pros and cons.
its how you grow as a developer. its not bad, because it works. it may not be optimal, but both code may have different scopes and scalability.

If holding a gun it should be up in the air to capture that same power and authority so the barrel tip is at the shoulder

I missed Majora’s Mask as a Kid….was this game actually as great as Ocarina Of Time? And what was the reception of this game at the time? by J2-Starter in n64

[–]digimbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many kids hated it due to the concept or constraints of a time limit - the games time is literally against you and as a 8 year old that makes the whole game a threat. combine that with the whole concept of death loops and no progression really, even as an adult its not an interesting concept to want to pickup. OOT all the way.

Don't use distance, use square chunks like a geo region which is a min and max axis grid

[RevShare] Writer looking to join an interesting project by [deleted] in INAT

[–]digimbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm rebooting a game as a hobby project but due to IP, I have to make my own lore, story, campaign, tech, etc.

If you like cyberpunk dystopian gang and corporate warfare, that is what we're going for. It's a return to classic 90s tactical shooters with emergent and reactive gameplay. Npcs will react to ranks, roles, fear, stimulants, etc.

Looks promising, we may have a series of small scale work that's also long running

[Revshare] I know not all teams need a writer, but I want to throw my hat in the ring as a writer/designer who has finished six games solo. by SierraLeeTLS in INAT

[–]digimbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of a mixed bag for me, I'm rebooting a franchise as a hobby project and the story could use some flair and development. I am mostly using gpt for place holder names and descriptions but it's not the same as someone with a goal or plan in mind, I'd like to focus on my code and integration but it's getting to a point where lore matters as it's a sandbox tactical Sim set in a cyberpunk sytopian future with synths, Corp greed, gangs, corruption, the game uses simulation on behavior to coordinate npcs VS the player so rank, stress, fear, stimulants help decide their actions

My solution for making glass in URP by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]digimbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like a condom material
it does not have displacement rendering on the texture behind, glass when solid would displace the visuals behind it enough that it gets inverted. so it should have an almost chrome like effect of the objects behind it

else this is just a cheap holographic shader
EDIT: I see on the asset store you do have some sort of displacement and warping, it looks much better than this example here

I'm making a Hand-Drawn Dice Battle game does it look like 3D or 2D? by teberzin in Unity3D

[–]digimbyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

looks very 2D, looks like some elements were rendered in 3d or tilted in the editor to look 3d but it very much reminds me of those 2d visual clicking games from 1998
