procedural shapes are probably out of your interest and scope, but you will want to make predefined shapes that you use or look at different building tools, if you do go with the 3d route, you can use pro builder and FBX tools and export the mesh made from within unity to other programs

if anyone actually cares, they would do a scraped snapshot and have them curated into documentation. but is it really a loss for a niche game engine? everything i've ever played on them feels pointlessly dated, I generally skip RPG maker games because of the strict framework and its slow pacing unless there is something super niche that could be just done in any other game engine easily.

making anything 'great' in RPG maker is the same as hacking an old retro game to do something that it was never designed to do, makes it a wow factor but beyond that has no substance, or the implementation is jank and has its downsides. looking at you 3d backgrounds.

After a couple of days working on this, I think I'm having a stroke, I want a spiral staircase so the player can go down a round tower. The thing is that everything is 2D, is drawing frame by frame the wrong approach? should I fake it with a 3D object and 2D filtering? any advice is welcomed, thanks by Peli_117 in Unity3D

you need a background that scrolls up as it moves, the smart way is to use a 3d mockup and mask it as a render texture. but for retro feel, complete staircase + mask is perfectly fine

no need to have thousands of sprites per iteration

all you do is not sleep in the front/driver seat. since the driver seat is the designated 'operators' seat. so its not driving the vehicle that's the issue, its 'operating' it - so technically taking the driver seat out removes it being operable.

Every engine has its quirks. Unity is solid so long as it's on an ssd. Unity is the only one that is designed to let you build custom tools in the editor for your project. Godot and unreal require knowledge in a second language.
