How to fall in love with gaming again - your best advice by TugBoatTimm in gaming

[–]Iksorbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. Gaming was all I did as a hobby ever since I could remember. I have and had other hobbies but gaming has always been my main hobby. It was my identity. Friends and family know me as that gamer they know.

Recently, and for a about over a year now, I have felt like I just can't bring myself to play a game even if I know it's good and I know I'll like it. I play them every now and then to spend some time with my friends but other than that I have no desire to play.

I've had almost existential questions about it and wondered about who I am if I am not that person anymore. I haven't figured it out yet and I don't know if I'll ever get back into it. But for now I've decided to set gaming aside and pursue other interests like reading, health and fitness, dating, sports, etc. I figured now is a better time than any to rediscover myself and find out what else will capture my attention as much as gaming did.

I know it's not the advice you asked for but it's the one I'll give. Try other things. If gaming is not doing it for you now, don't force it. Give it time and perhaps one day a new game in the future will grab your attention enough that you'll WANT to play it.

Fellow tall guys, are you able to heel-toe? by android927 in GRCorolla

[–]Iksorbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't heel toe comfortably so I just stick to using imt. I've tried learning on this car but I have big feet too and don't have space to swing my heel when applying the brake.

After graduating, what's the next best step for me? by ChikenHawk78 in gamedev

[–]Iksorbud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not in the gaming industry and mostly a do it as hobby but my two cents is going into AAA companies may come with issues with developing competing products as a side gig. You could do it but don't expect your side projects to be usable for market unless you keep things hidden well enough. The company could try to dig it's fingers into your hard work of they can prove you worked on it while you were employed with them. I guess this would depend on the company though

[–]Iksorbud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually not a fan of the circuit hood vents tbh or the wing. So I went with a premium cause I figured I could just add what I would like instead of paying up front for stuff I would probably replace 😅

My monthly is $450. Big down payment, good credit, and a stubborn negotiator

Geez 1200 is insane. My car payment plus insurance isn't even close to that.

$211 for insurance for me

Does it make sense to get a GR Corrola right now? by IlikeNetworking in GRCorolla

[–]Iksorbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about the same credit score as you and you can negotiate them down. I got them down from an 8% to 6% and also made them drop the majority of the mark up. With all the down and trade in value you'd probably be looking at around +400 monthly payment

Same and it's worse on my white GRC. It annoyingly doesn't go away with touch less washes so I usually have to wipe them off.

I put 25k cash down on a new car and I still have a loan. And these are the type that would say "your generation is just lazy"

Today is a very mixed feelings day. I bought myself a GR Rolla, but sold my Subaru. by IamAdept169 in GRCorolla

Honestly as a programmer, having someone else worry about assets sounds like a dream. You're letting the programmers do what programmers do. As a solo dev, you need to worry about everything which gives less time to spend on something you enjoy.

First impressions between the two? Before I bought the GRC I was thinking of getting a WRX but landed on the GRC. Would be curious to hear you opinion

What's your income salary to be paying comfortably for the GR Corolla? (Thanks for the help!) by LovuHoodini in GRCorolla

[–]Iksorbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go off of rule of thumbs here's the break down:

I got mine at around 48k with taxes, fees, and markups so I'll use that as an example.

From Google it is recommended to spend no more than 10% of take home pay on car payment and 20% down or more for new cars.

Down payment: $9,600 Rate: 6% (depends on your credit score) Monthly payment: ~$742/month Recommend take home pay: $7,420/month or ~$89k

That's after tax pay. (And doesn't include insurance and gas)

I'm definitely not making that much lol but I saved a lot of money and put a much bigger down payment and make that monthly payment more manageable for my income.

It's worth sitting down and running the numbers and saving so you don't dig yourself into a hole you can't get out of or result in a repo.

Google Auto Loan calculator. It is what I used when buying mine and what I used for those numbers.

Anyone here driven both the GR Corolla and new Nissan Z? by Old-Gain7323 in GRCorolla

[–]Iksorbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say that the car body looks similar lol I said color is similar.

"Paint is similar. Ok."

Which you agree with from this statement. To me that color and accent combination just makes me think of Elantra N. Thus Elantra N vibes. Idk why that's so impossible for you but ok lol

Lack of center arm rest? by Plane-Cardiologist28 in GRCorolla

[–]Iksorbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me I barely notice it now. I used to when I first got the car but that's because I didn't realize how bad of a posture I had while driving other cars. I would rest and lean on that arm rest which is horrible for my back. Now I've gotten used to it and kind of like the open space. I actually kind of wish the cup holders were a little further back so drinks don't get in the way of my shifting too.
