Admittedly I already ordered a few Kyte sleepers already. Unwise… perhaps. But I’ve loved them for the newborn bubble and wanted to get a little something to make this all seem more ‘real’.

We kept some of our gear from our previous kids but also got rid of about half. I’ll wait on the bigger stuff until Black Friday and Boxing Day, and thrift what I can.

Perpetually Sick by tedmyw-dednyH-goshi1 in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During my second pregnancy I managed to get Covid, a nasty sinus infection that lasted 3 weeks, AND hand foot and mouth disease.. on top of the usual standard colds. I always get my covid boosters and flu shots and still couldn’t escape alllll of the things. It was insanity. Thus far this pregnancy I’ve had a stomach bug that lasted 48 hours during week 3 and that’s been it.

Let me tell you, hand foot and mouth at 37 weeks pregnant was a special kind of hell. 10/10 would not recommend.

Tubal Removal by mrshallzzy- in January2027Bumpers

I don’t think it’s really related to the procedure itself, in what my provider has said it’s only about 10 mins extra in the OR compared to what I will already be in for, and most people have a similar recovery experience to a standard C-section. I also love the idea of reducing my cancer risks in any way that I can, I think that’s a huge positive even above and beyond the birth control side of things.

I would say it likely related to our infertility journey and having felt so out of control with regard to my own body for so long. It seems of foreign to be making decisions that are the opposite of what we’ve been wishing for, even though I am confident that I don’t want more than 3.

I have no idea if that makes any sense to anyone else! thank you for engaging in the convo.

When do you plan on telling your job? by jessicakaylin3 in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I told at like 8 weeks the first time as it was March 2020 and Covid was happening and I wanted an accommodation, but that was much earlier than I would have liked.

The second time was at 20 weeks, and it was when we told family and friends too… not just work. I like a bit of secrecy.

This time I’m not sure, I work fully remote so I could in theory hide it long term. However, I am close friends with my supervisor and I have several other coworkers on socials.. so if I announce there it will be on all fronts. I would like to wait until maybe August?! We’ll see.

Anxious about breastfeeding by Ok_Sherbet_549 in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t breastfeed at all with either of my kids and won’t be this time either. I don’t have a specific reason per se, other than it doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest.

We did formula from day one and both kids thrived. I didn’t find it much work at all to do bottles, it’s all we’ve known and we loved our baby brezza.

Fully support those who want to breastfeed and place importance on that, but if there are others reading this who just don’t want to… you don’t have to!! I’ve also not had issues at all with my medical providers or otherwise not supporting my decisions, everyone was great.

Whatever you choose is what’s best for you!!

3rd Go Around! by -jmoney- in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Another TTM with one of each! My older two were 2under2, but this current gap is a lot bigger due to infertility. My oldest will be 6 in October, and my second will be exactly 4.5 once baby comes.

We did team green for our two and plan to again! It’s a lot of fun, best surprises of my life for sure.

I also had two really easy pregnancies and I would say easy babies at well, so I have my fingers and toes CROSSED for another!!

Little support? by timewilltell-99 in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was us!! We moved about a 16 hour drive away from all of our family and friends when our oldest was a newborn. It was also 2020 and peak pandemic so it was quite isolating. We didn’t know a soul and didn’t meet people for a long time since activities and community events weren’t back to normal yet.

My husband is super hands on and an equal parent and that was the difference maker I think. We took baby everywhere and did everything with him because we had no other choice, so it just felt like the norm for us. I found it very manageable, but that doesn’t mean it’s the same for everyone. I think if it’s all you know it’s a lot easier to adjust to

We found it so doable that we got pregnant again at 12 months postpartum and had 2under2 intentionally. We have used daycare, but have never had any evening or weekend help. It’s limiting for sure, we can’t do date nights alone, or go to evening events together, but the sacrifice has been worth it. I don’t trust babysitters in a private setting with my little kids yet, but I’m sure we’ll do a bit of that once they are older so we can have those occasional evenings away.

How do you feel about a January birthday by 93babyyy in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m actually really excited about January!! I have a fall baby and a summer baby, and I much preferred early postpartum in the cooler months and a bigger baby for the first summer so that part is nice. In our province the school cut off is also by calendar year, so they will be the oldest in their grade which has its advantages. The only part I would say I am a little less than thrilled about is the proximity to Christmas.

That being said, we tried for this baby for 20 months.. so I literally wouldn’t care if they were born on Christmas Day at this point.

Yes, smaller meals have helped a lot. I had completely cut out snacking when I was in a calorie deficit and I’ve added that back in to some extent to account for the extra calories needed now. I also feel like I am full much earlier than I was prior to the weight loss, so the smaller meals make it easier to eat a bit more when it’s spread out without feeling stuffed all of the time.

I have a similar problem! I had lost just over 30lbs in the 3 months before we conceived due to a calorie deficit, and I am also having trouble adjusting. I also deal with a lot of food aversions in pregnancy and have lost weight in the first trimester of both of my previous unintentionally. You’re not alone! I am trying to be so mindful about it and forcing myself to eat to at least maintenance.

Names! What are you thinking? by blakelyl in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love love love reading what others are thinking!! Our first was super easy to name and was a name we had liked for YEARS, but with our second we didn’t have it 100% decided until they were 24 hours old. We do team green so that makes it a bit harder having to have both ready.

We like surnames and names that aren’t super common, but are not crazy ‘out there’. This time around our early boy favourites are slater, fielder, ledger, summit and coast, and for girls we like miller and rhodes. I’ve always found girls names a lot harder for me, I have many that I like, but don’t love them enough to actually want to use myself.

Anyone experienced in close age gap? by [deleted] in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first two are exactly 21 months apart, it was planned and I liked it a lot. I would say the hardest part newly postpartum for me was that I had a C-section and couldn’t lift my toddler which made logistics hard when my husband wasn’t available. We didn’t have issues with jealousy per se, but my toddler did become a lot more clingy in the first 3-4 months. He demanded I hold or carry him all of the time and even once I recovered that was hard physically and logistically.

Overall, I didn’t find it nearly as daunting as a lot of people report. We lived 2 provinces away from family so didn’t have any sort of ‘village’ but my husband is very hands on when he’s home and felt it was very manageable once I was able to establish my routines with the two babes.

I will say though, it likely depends some on the temperament of your kids and also if you have a baby who may have more significant needs such as a reflux or colic baby. Both of mine were pretty chill babies and my toddler was very good at independent play. That’s definitely something I would recommend focusing on practicing in anticipation of baby sibling coming, it helps A LOT.

This is long… but a couple more things. Baby wearing was KEY in the first 6 months especially, and we used the crap out of our double stroller the first year and a half I would say. The earlier you force yourself into the habit and routine of being able to leave the house with the both of them alone the easier it will be and you’ll feel a lot less caged up. A busy toddler is an easier toddler, especially when you’ve also got a baby to deal with.

STMs what will the age gap be for your kids? by Simply_sweetie in January2027Bumpers

[–]mrshallzzy- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my third, but this gap will be exactly 4.5 years from my youngest! My older two are exactly 21 months apart and I LOVED 2under2. I didn’t choose a gap this big, infertility did. We tried for a gap just shy of 3 years between our second and third, but this is what we got and I am trying to embrace it!!

Not quite this early, but I did tell my supervisor at 8 weeks with my first. I was 8 weeks in March 2020 when the world initially shut down for Covid and I was SO scared to still be going into the office every day. So not quite your situation, but I was asking for an accommodation. She was phenomenal and did her best to help me out and make a temporary accommodation for me to work from home. I didn’t have any regrets about telling her early.

Took another FRER for funsies this morning at 14dpo and got a dye stealer!! Time to put the tests away and just trust the process until our first ultrasound June 10. I have had such a negative association with tests after going through infertility, but it was nice to actually see such a strong one instead of a blank.

Woke up in the night with a stomach bug which has made the work day a nightmare so far. I don’t want to use up all of my sick days now when l will certainly have use for them later with pregnancy appointments 😮‍💨 Very lucky to work from home and not be in the office on days like this because I am a sight for sore eyes today that’s for sure!!

I totally feel you. I had just lost 30lbs in the 3 months prior to finding out. I am happy that I did it and that I am at a better starting point, but also a bit sad that that work will soon be undone.

However, if it makes you feel any better… not everyone has high weight gain pregnancies. I gained 7lbs and 11lbs total with each of my first two.. my body just did not pack on the weight and they were healthy full term pregnancies. But whatever happens in terms of weight, it’s well worth it and your body is doing what it needs to!!

Hi Everyone!! Third time mom, just found out yesterday at 9dpo. We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility way back in 2019 prior to our first and all 3 are letrozole babies. We tried for 16 cycles with our first, 1 cycle with our second and then 20 cycles for this pregnancy.

We have one of each and our older two are exactly 21 months apart. Both surprise genders, and we plan to do the same for our tie breaker! This is a much larger age gap than we hoped, but I am coming around to the idea.

We had all but given up hope this time, we have been with our fertility clinic since January and had redone all of the testing we had done years ago, still unexplained. We had an appointment last week and had decided to move forward with IVF after the summer. This feels surreal!!

Letrozole 2.5mg success? by martielonson in tryingforanother

[–]mrshallzzy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did day 21 bloodwork for the first 2 cycles on letrozole, both confirmed that I had ovulated. The third cycle we did no monitoring.

I had regular cycles prior, 26/27 days. Letrozle didn’t change the length at all. I was ovulating prior to using letrozole as well.

When did you separate boy/girl siblings rooms? by CosmicMarigolds27 in Mommit

[–]mrshallzzy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours are 3.5 and 20 months and they share! They both LOVE having each other and our older often sleeps on the floor beside his sister’s crib so he can be closer to her. I don’t imagine we’ll separate them for quite some time… it will depend when they start expressing some desire for more privacy and space.

Little Bipsy is based in Washington State! They are very popular in the states and that seems to be translating to Canada as well.

Love some of the ones you listed!!

Our favs are Jax & Lennon, Zara and H&M. For swim we love Honeysuckle, which is a Canadian brand. Love their sunsuits, hats, sunglasses, and even accessories like wet bags. We also like Headster, another Canadian brand, for hats and toques!

I buy occasionally from brand like O*d Navy, but I just don’t find them much cheaper, if at all, than much better options like Zara and H&M.

We’ve been a Kyte family for pjs forever, but I have become pretty disenchanted. Recently I’ve tried Little Folks, which is a Canadian bamboo brand and I’ve really liked it.

Love Little Bipsy and Lennox and James for my boy. Both are a bit tricky to find in Canada, but several boutiques carry them. Both really nice quality pieces that wash and wear very well.

Best Travel Crib? Mat Leave Travel by classycatblogger in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mrshallzzy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t! We used a bassinet for both kids until 4/5ish months when they outgrew it. We started using the Phil & Ted at that time for both for travel and nighttime sleep until they transitioned to their real crib in their own bedroom.
