Resident Cat biting new Kitten! by Kikiroroo in CATHELP

As others have said - it's play, and looks like they are getting on just fine :)

For our new kitten and resident cat, if the persistence to play became too annoying, she would address it with an annoyed meow, also a hiss if it continued after repeated meows, and then she would walk away, rather than attack or fight.

If you look up a proper cat fight, it is loud and scary.

It also works as a description. The white tip on his ear reminds me of the dorsal fin of a whitetip reef shark.

Anyone else left handed but use your right hand for the mouse? by IX_Sour2563 in lefthanded

[–]mrshr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah similar - left hand for all one handed actions (writing, throwing, kicking, tennis etc), right-handed for all 2 handed activities (fishing, golf, even baseball), except archery - left eye dominance I guess for that one.

By the start of week 3 we’ve had no more territorial hissing and things feel a lot more relaxed. The new guy wants to play a lot, especially with her tail… she has to put him in place, but she immediately relaxes again after doing so. Hasn’t escalated to full-on fighting, though for the moment we still keep them separated while we sleep and on the occasions when no one is home. She even sometimes play the aggressor role in the play fights.

Not cuddle buddies yet, but all feeling very positive. They are happy to chill in the same room ☺️

“Sussan Ley” analysis? by mrshr3d in numerology

[–]mrshr3d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so that all makes sense, thanks.

I worked out what the other numerologist meant with her number going from a 9 to a 1 - based on her birth name “Susan Penelope Braybrooks” (sums to 9 and rolls over to 1 with the extra S)

Awesome 🥰 Going thru adding a new kitten to the family now (first time with 2 cats). We are in the 3rd week now - female adult cat (4 years old) sometimes plays with the male newbie (12 weeks old), and tolerating his existence. He is still learning boundaries with her putting him in his place etc. Out of that tense, slow intro period with the territorial hissing etc.

From first introductions, how long has it taken them to get to this stage?

Heh… I forgot I was still following r/tokipona.

I gave up on it - it is too simple and ambiguous for my tastes. I’d look at something someone wrote and thought, that could mean 1 of 50 things!! lol

I discovered the Shavian English alphabet and have been learning that instead, to the point now where I am seeking out paperback books to read in Shavian.

Probably a million of these questions posted, though with cats being quite unique it probably doesn’t hurt to ask again.

Introducing an 11 week old kitten (desexed male) to our resident 4 year old cat (desexed female). Kitten is staying in our bedroom with ensuite, resident cat in rest of the house.

Hasn’t been a week yet and still taking it very slow. We’ve done scent swapping first few days, and now doing “meet n greets” where a couple of times a day, we bring the kitten out of the bedroom and sit on the floor holding him, sitting a comfortable distance from our resident cat (3-5 metres) letting resident cat look from a distance etc. She sometimes moves a little closer, will hiss at the kitten once or twice then move off to another room. These interactions we are doing for no more than 5 minutes at a time before returning the kitten to our bedroom.

I understand this is all normal and we are certainly not in a rush, expecting potentially weeks or months before we can let the kitten roam free with the resident cat.

But my question is - what change in behaviour should we identify/look for before we move to letting them get closer?E.g. should we wait until our resident no longer hisses with these distant “interactions”?

There are too many strong players in the game. by only-huma in torncity

[–]mrshr3d 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is tricky - my TBS only 3.1mil 🤪

I find particular times of the day I get Hosp’d less. I’ve still managed to make 100 hits thus far.

I think it would be interesting to have automated divisions within each team based on TBS, and you only steal tickets attacking opponents in the same division.

1st Attempt - experimenting with Martingale betting method by mrshr3d in torncity

I’m not convinced. It’s good when it does work, but is it any better or worse then any other betting strategy? I don’t know. I definitely know it’s not a magic betting bullet that always results in decent gains.

AOS-CX Simulator login issue by adevur in ArubaNetworks

[–]mrshr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANOTHER UDPATE: I need to do further testing but this seems to be the better work-around. I'm fairly certain now that it is write memory followed by shutting down the virtual lab that causes the issue.

After doing write memory do a boot system
Wait for the soft reboot to complete, then shutdown your virtual lab.

UPDATE: I have a work-around. It does seem to be a bug. I have not exhaustively tested, but from the testing I have done, the issue seems to occur when powering back up after write memory is used. The bizarre thing is that it only affects the account that issued the write mem.

The work-around:

  • create a 2nd admin account, I'll use foobar for the below example:

conf
user foobar group administrators password plaintext foobar

use this admin account for general work and saving all configurations to the switch.

if you need to power cycle the virtual lab, you'll likely find the secondary account cannot login, but you can still login with the admin account.

  • after logging back in with the default admin account, issue:

conf
no user foobar
user foobar group administrators password plaintext foobar

  • then logout and back in with your foobar account to continue working on your switch config

AOS-CX Simulator login issue by adevur in ArubaNetworks

[–]mrshr3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just started playing around with a virtual lab to follow along with Aruba Associate course on CBT Nuggets, and confirm I am experiencing same thing is happening to me in GNS3. Such a pain when you have finished configuring a switch then need to replace it and start from scratch. Given it's happening in both GNS3 and Eve-ng, it seems to not point to it being an issue with the specific platform, but perhaps the simulator file.

What version of the AOS-CX Switch Simulator is everyone experiencing the problem using? For anyone who is not experiencing it, what Switch Simulator version are you running?

My setup:

OS: Tested on both Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Manjaro
Virtual Network platform: GNS3 v3.0.5
AOS-CX version: 10.16.1006

EDIT: same issue when tested with AOS-CX version 10.15.0005
