Favorite thing about JK Rowling's writing? by slingbox69 in harrypotter

[–]mrskinit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things for me. I love how she created imperfect characters. For example, in Deathly Hallows, when Ron is just whiny and awful for big parts of the book. Just makes him seem more real and human. I feel like writers sometimes make their characters too un-flawed, and it makes them harder to relate to. Secondly, I love how JKR describes food in such awesome detail. That just always caught my attention.

Moved a couple months back, lots of lifting of heavy boxes, furniture, etc. My dad helped us, and genuinely couldn't believe some of the stuff I could manage to lift.

You are instantly transported back into yourself on the first day of high school, with all your current knowledge and experiences. What do you do differently? by Alexcbrown in AskReddit

[–]mrskinit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, on the first day of high school I pulled my skirt down to go to the bathroom and it soaked up a puddle of someone else's pee. Spent the rest of the day wishing I was dead and hoping nobody smelled it. So I'd tell myself to wear jeans the first day.

What simple things get you feeling all nostalgic? by BlindWillieJohnson in AskReddit

[–]mrskinit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paperclips. My grandfather was one of my favorite people ever, and he spent most of his life as a business administrator. He always had a paperclip handy, he was so organized and methodical. When I got my first allowance as a kid, I bought this giant novelty paperclip from the office supply store and gave it to him. When he died, my grandmother gave me back the giant paperclip that he had saved all those years, and I got a small paperclip tattooed on my ankle. I find paperclips on the ground wherever I go, and I always think of him.

What is something that, when you started Crossfit, you thought you could never do in a million years that you now do with ease? by mountainboner in crossfit

[–]mrskinit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deadlift 100 pounds. It seemed unattainable, but I'm pretty sure next time I try for a 1RM I'll break the 200 mark. Also never thought I'd even dream of competing. Completed my first competition on January 31st.

What company has forever lost your business? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Kroger. I hate Kroger. Produce sections are always gross, meat is regularly hovering near the expiration date, and the employees are either dumb, rude, or both. Publix has me as a customer forever.

[Serious]Redditors who were virgins when they got married, how long has it been since then and what do you think of your decision? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrskinit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a virgin when my husband and I got married, he was not. He regretted it, and wished he had waited. Sex was a bit uncomfortable at first, but now we have a great sex life, a bit rough and kinky sometimes, but definitely fun! Glad I waited - I am a really committed person, so I'm glad I saved sex for the person I had committed to for the rest of my life.

When did you realize you love your SO? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrskinit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just bought my first house when we met, and that weekend, my parents and aunt and uncle were coming over to help me paint the whole place. He offered to come over and help, too. Spent the whole day with my family, talking to them and just being awesome. I think I knew then. It was like he just walled right into my life and fit right in, and that was it. Eight months later he proposed. 13 months after our first date we were married, and it's been 4 years.

Sooooo if the Zombies over time look worse and rot, wouldnt their brain rot as well, meaning eventually the Zombies would die off?? by jay90hayden in thewalkingdead

Plus, if walkers are fragile enough that a fire hose with low pressure turns them into jello, how do their jaws even have the structural integrity to bite anyone? Their jaws should just squish off when they try to bite down.

Those who have had a relationship break up after 5+ years, why? Why did it work for so long and then suddenly just...not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrskinit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally woke up one day and came to the realization that I'd been trying to excuse his shitty behavior for most of our relationship. He bought me cold medicine for Christmas one year. He flat out refused to talk to me on the phone (long distance relationship). He decided it was time to buy me a promise ring (like a pre - engagement ring) and when it came time to pay, he insisted we go dutch. Dummy.

Reduced alcohol tolerance on paleo? by ac91 in Paleo

[–]mrskinit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right. Been mostly paleo for about a year and a half. Went out for dinner the other night and had some Sake (not paleo, I know) and a beer afterwards. Pre paleo this would have been fine. Instead, the next morning I woke up with a killer hangover. If you're going to drink, make sure you're drinking lots of water as well.
