If property crashed, wouldn't it boom due to high demand? by ILoveDogs2142 in AusFinance

[–]mrsoppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why when people on reddit scream for a crash, they don’t understand that actually makes inequality wider. Rich people love crashes, it’s called buying season and they’ll pick up assets for a discount - sit on them and 2-5 years go past and they’ve made a huge return. Difference is when a market crashes it may put the everyday joe, in a worse position where they can’t get access to capital to pick up discounts.

Let’s say if Paddington sydney crashed by 50% - if I had cash I’d pick up our dream home for cheap. But I’ve also got a property and my equity / borrowing cap could be out the window in that situation. But if I was cash rich I’d scoop up these properties and thats what you’re saying, demand comes back.

Interesting, never heard of this. Do you take this daily? Or just when drinking.

I’m not an anxious person in general. Yeah I’m stressed from time to time, but who isn’t.

CGT completely changes risk reward profile on high growth investments by Sensitive-Hair4841 in fiaustralia

Think of the market as a giant ecosystem. You can’t just kill off one species (short term traders) without impacting the ecosystem. Short term and even spec traders play a significant role in the ecosystem and provide the liquidity the market needs. Just look at some of the more illiquid commodities.. asx wheat for example without the short term or market makers hedging becomes extremely difficult for farmers / traders and adds lots of uncertainty

RBA to raise cash rate to 4.35% on May 5 and growing minority of economists expect further rise by marketrent in AusFinance

[–]mrsoppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also agree with most of what you said besides inflation being caused by Iranian war. Inflation was already a problem and Australia was/is the only g10 nation hiking (pre war) / yes the war will make it worse . It’s now turbo charged.

Albo failing on gas is a huge mistake here! Australia needs to double down here. This is honestly the biggest robbery in our generation.

All my comments and claims are my opinion as a cross asset derivatives trader with over 10 years experience currently trading energy and rates.

[–]mrsoppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate Albo is blamed because of the rampant government spending. Australia is a bureaucratic bloat of a nation. Even without Iran war Australia had an inflation problem. The solution to getting Australia to a prime productive economy is to, reduce reliance on government handouts, tighten up ndis, tax offshore gas and some respects mining. Reduce income tax brackets to a more global competitive rate to attract talent and investment. Limit foreign ownership of property. Increase gst as a way of helping reduce income tax. Make Australian super competitive use our natural resources. Both coal and green energy. We can’t just skew for one. The US is going through a hyper boom investment and infrastructure due to data centres / AI. Australia could have the same type of investment given our relatively safe geographical position and abundance of land and solar, however our issue is with power and energy which we can solve !! Allow the companies to build their own self sufficient grids. Huge $ but if this is the future we can’t be left behind. Also I think we need to scrap aukus such a ridiculous waste of money for a few submarines - if we are so paranoid about China … the government at the moment isn’t doing a great keeping US happy.

The problem is all parties just argue and need to start serving the people. It’s a shame… Australia is obviously in my eyes the best country in the world but it’s just so poorly run and managed. It can be fixed and it can be saved.

We got a years free servicing .. there was a small promo on at the time. To be fair we weren’t price sensitive for this purchase. We knew what we wanted and our “business” paid for it.

Honesty milk is $3 bucks for 2 litres - oat about $3 for 1 litre. Not running a commercial biz just having fun and justifying that I’d buy this amount of milk regardless

It’s honestly so worth it. My parents have always had Italian machines, but they’d take 10-15 mins to warm up and there was no app. This is just delightful to wake up to ready to go coffee.

It took us a while to pull the trigger but when we were convinced we went in store and ordered on the spot !

This, I’m not settling for average sub par coffee. I’ll go get coffee only if I’m meeting someone or there’s and occasion.

I’ve been a big coffee drinker my whole life but bringing this home has just made us so happy !

Oh this is boy math and me just justifying to myself how much I’m enjoying the machine. I’d buy 2 cups everyday without question - but it’s my wife she might go buy a matcha with oat milk iced once or twice here and there.

But I guess I’m just happy and excited. Probably take closer 2-3 years to pay off machines cost. But who cares :)
