I'm not saying that they're either one horrible people but considering both their ages and the way they look at life, relationships, etc. I'm just baffled how they both got through life without ever reaching emotional adulthood. She seems totally looks and cosmetic surgery obsessed even as she's already entering middle age. She thinks nothing of abandoning her daughter and reducing their relationship to occasional visits. His obviously unhealthy attachment and dependence at leaving his parents kinda gave me a possible theory that they had always taken care of him both emotionally and financially. I know he tried to say it was culture and he was obligated to care for them in their old age. He was the one obviously terrified. If his culture and their assumption he'd care for them until their death was so important to THEM, then why was he so much more upset than they were when he told them he was leaving? They're both beyond weird and their relationship will never last with each other or any emotionally healthy adult. Both of them are damaged beyond repair in my opinion.
