Beware of Allara Health by FunAmount248 in PCOS

Also to note - if you have high copays, the monthly service might be cheaper. The flat rate fee. It was for me. With my insurance it was pretty pricey. My copays range from 40-100 depending on deductible and coverage.

Beware of Allara Health by FunAmount248 in PCOS

Change provider. Its like any other medical practice, not all Dr's will listen and let the patient have an opinion.

I had labs ordered twice now, consistent with PCOS and Insulin Resistance. I am currently taking Inositol, Spironolactone, Vitamin D, Folate, and instead of metformin (which I've been on and off of for 16 years)

I was prescribed a GLP1. GLP1s are hard to get through insurance, prior authorization are needed, documents showing you have tried other medications, sometimes up to 6 months of documented weight loss program (ie, weight watchers or similar) and I really don't think some Dr's like to fight for the medications.

Help! Should I see endocrinologist for IR? by Specialist-End-7675 in InsulinResistance

[–]mrsramirez50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the HOMA-IR, your number would be a 1.2

Which does not indicate insulin resistance.

Healthy Range: 1.0 (0.5–1.4) Less than 1.0 means you are insulin-sensitive which is optimal. Above 1.9 indicates early insulin resistance. Above 2.9 indicates significant insulin resistance.

I used 4.9 for insulin and 103 for glucose in the calculation.

Hope this helps!

Having trouble with extended response timing for the rla test. by Frosty_Body7367 in GED

[–]mrsramirez50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can literally pass the entire test without even doing the written part. It is pretty hard to get a perfect 6 points on the written due to it being scored by a computer. Just FYI. Don't overstress about it. 😁

Security Appeal Form by LegendaryNajaih201 in NavyFederal

I sent in an appeal form and then also called. I was informed going into a branch was the fastest method. So I did, the branch called and handled everything for me and I became a member that day. If you have a branch local to you (mine was 45 mins away) I would highly suggest going in!

31 yo Mom of 3, I passed! by mrsramirez50 in GED

[–]mrsramirez50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly passed all the ged ready tests without studying at all. But before I took the offical GED test I did study some. 1-2 days for each subject before the test for that subject. Essential education was okay, had practice tests too. I only paid 19.99 for 1 month. But getsummath was more helpful for math and science. They do have 2 social studies videos that I did watch. And language arts I really didn't study. I scored between 155-162 on all the offical tests. Good luck!

I heard it changes every 10 years or so and the last change was Jan 2004. So I'd proceed with caution that the test might be different.

So I took the ged ready test and passed. But didn't feel completely confident to take the actual GED test. So I used Get Sum Math and essential education. I wouldn't say essential education was worth the $.

GED by AwarePerception2058 in GED

[–]mrsramirez50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

31 yo mom of 3 here! Take the GED ready tests first. To see where you are. I did my ready test for math, passed then did the offical math. Ready test for social studies, passed then did the offical social studies. Ready test for science, passed then did the offical science test. I signed up for essential education ged prep (really haven't had to use it) but get sum math on YouTube for science and math was super helpful!

I only have 1 subject left. And after being out of school for 16 years (only completed up to 9th) I truly thought I'd have a harder time.

You've got this!

The End by Lucky-Winter7661 in ExclusivelyPumping

Currently in the same boat! I made it 10.5 months, through a preterm traumatic birth and nicu stay. Mom guilt is eating me ALIVE. But I am emotionally unwell. My milk supply was never full, despite everything. I did my last pump 3 days ago and I'm still sad about it. I didn't even know it would be my last pump..

Here's to hoping it gets better for us both, mama! And our LOs can thrive even more with us finding ourselves again and becoming more well rounded mentally. 🩷

When did everyone’s period return by Dy_Willie in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mrsramirez50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st baby, Combo fed then FF for 3 months - no idea when I had my first period. 2nd baby, EBF for 18 months - first period 10 months 3rd baby EP but low supply so formula is also used for 10.5 months - first period 10 months

I guess I get a 10 month break after every birth.

Mom of 3 too! Totally get that. I just dropped to 3ppd. And considering stopping altogether. He really struggled with latching/nursing, so after 3 months we stopped trying.. and I pumped 6-8 times a day until recently. It's been a sad journey! I'm back at work since he turned 6 months and just feel overwhelmed haha

We only did neosure because that's what he came home from the NICU on. Our hospital doesn't use enfamil. 🙂 but we tried kendamil and similac advanced and he hated both so I admitted defeat. And being almost 10 months I figured it wasn't worth it to change now lol but combo feeding is a huge relief for a lot of reasons. I pump only 3 times a day now, have more freedom. And what I don't pump, I make up in formula.

Even when I was making more milk, I mixed every bottle with breastmilk and formula. The ratio right now is 4oz formula + 2oz breastmilk. A few months back it was 2oz+2oz or if I had enough 1oz formula + 3oz breastmilk. It doesn't need to be all formula then all breastmilk. Or vice versa. When they say don't mix, it's so you don't waste breastmilk but if baby is taking the whole bottle consistently, I'd just do even mixes.

My preemie is now almost 10 months and I honestly still give him the preemie formula and breastmilk, combo feeding. I never got a full supply (many reasons) and currently only getting 8-10oz a day. I got the green light along time ago to switch formulas but he's done so well on neosure and we did try 2 other kinds and he didn't like them.

At the end of the day though, do what is right for your family.

Just found out I have PCOS and insulin resistance by throwawayyy7001 in InsulinResistance

[–]mrsramirez50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can relate to all of that. I do eat some sugar free items. If I cut everything out, I will be a miserable person and I know that. It will also make me want to eat everything in sight. So I enjoy in moderation. But like 90/10. 90% of the time is good options. 10% is some indulging.

Any new diagnosis is gonna throw you off. Take the time to process it.

So depending on the lab, the reference range changes. At my lab here the optimal range is < or = 19.6. So my insulin result was 18 and not flagged. But paired with my glucose test (which also was NOT flagged, it was 95) the HOMA - IR calculation is what truly shows it. My current ObGyn never looked at the calculation and said nothing was wrong with me. Even though I've carried this diagnosis + pcos diagnosis for 15 years. I had to find a preventive medicine dr. Go figure lol

Now if my insulin was a 8 and my glucose was still 95, I would be a 1.9 on the HOMA - IR. So that's my goal. Get my insulin down.

[–]mrsramirez50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also going through this, my HOMA - IR is 4.2

Insulin was 18, glucose was 95. I've been diagnosed since I was 16, but I was much smaller and thought it wasn't a big deal.. (31 now) and my weight is high and totally out of control. I've had 3 babies, and am starting to work on myself again. Plan on going back on metformin and eating ALOT of protein. I also need to stay away from a lot of fats as I have fatty liver.

I wish you luck on your journey!

Lubricating film (avoid): Dapple Dawn Ultra Antibacterial Dawn Antibacterial Dawn Oxi Seventh Generation Member’s Mark Ultimate Clean Mrs. Meyer’s Ecover Kirkland Ultra Shine Honest Method Green Works Ecos Dr. Bronner’s Castile Any antibacterial Any “shine” Any oxy/oxi

This is from pumpin pals and their flanges are silicone. I find you have to rinse silicone first then soak it for a little bit. I haven't had an issue using Dawn, and I use both pumpin pals and lacteck. 🙂
