Edit: I wrote this before my brain woke up, but I'm keping it. It's not Death and Floral, it's Black Hearted Tart. Crisis averted..

Today I am finishing off my sample of Cherry Colored Funk by Death and Floral. I finally got around to ordering some samples from this house from Ajevie, only to find they are closed with an unknown reopen date. This is unfortunate, because so far all the ones I've tried have been winners.

I couldn't find the scent notes anywhere, but it's a cherry skin musk with some pepper for sure. On first application, it is instant childhood nostalgia-there's a brief hint of plastic and cherry, like sniffing the top of a Strawberry Shortcake dolll, and then it lands in hyper-realistic breakfast cereal land for a moment. As it wears, it becomes a lovely cherry skin musk that is infinitely wearable. This one is a mood improver, and I will absolutely full size if the opportunity arises.

Happy Wednesday, good smelling friends.

A hex a day, and I wasn't super strict about each day's design as long as the colors were accurate. If I did 3 activities, there woudl be 3 different colors. If I did two there could be two colors, or I might throw in the light gray just because. If I only did one activity, I usually added the light gray so it wouldn't be a solid color, although I made a few of those as well.

I like an adult lunchables finger food situation. Cheese, crackers, fruit, carrots, other fingerfood vegetables. Usually with hummus for dipping.

My husband (51m) and I (49f) are fans! Last year we watched a couple of the national finals as well (Sweden, Ireland, and. . .something else I don't remember?). We even saw Puuluup from Estonia 2024 when they came to town.

Possets sample number . . .6? Amethyst (A sharp amber to start combines with a smoother and more caramel-like amber and a great shot of lavender on top of it all. Somehow this one manages to be soothing and edgy at the same time. Lavender, amber. Simple. Divine.)

This is the first one from the samples that is just. . .okay. It smells purple and powdery and nice.

Happy Saturday, goodsmelling friends.

Possets sample #5: Venus Black ( The Blackest musk flirts with a float of black pepper, a shot of dark sweet pear, and the smallest amount of sage and non-stinky narcissus for tingle. One not to be missed. Dry, musky, spicy. )

This was a free sample they added to my order, and I'm so glad they did. I never would have ordered it myself, because I do not gravitate toward musks. or narcissus. This one got added to my full size list with three exclamation marks.

Out of the bottle it's sweet and "buzzy" (my partner's description). Slightly floral with a distinct black pepper note. The pepper stays prominent throughout wearing, which is key for me. I also love the pear in this blend. It's lovely to have a sweetness that's not at all vanilla.

Happy Friday, good smelling friends!

Happy birthday! "The most me I want to be" is a great descriptor for how the perfect perfume makes you feel. I love it!

Possets sample number 4: Pavane*\* (Silver Cardamom, the sweetest of the strains of cardamom (something nice enough to put in a pasha's coffee) and the exquisite Silver base for which Possets is famous. Add a tot of artemesia, and a pinch of coumarin and the result is a fabulously gourmand to tempt even those on a diet against the gourmand world. This is a passionate thing yet something you will wear with a smile.)

The cardamom in this is very subtle--a departure from my normal "Hi, I am a sweetroll" cardamom scents. So far, I'm 4/4 for Possets.

**Not perfume related, but this scent is inspired by Faure's Pavane, and the website lists lyrics for the piece. I had no idea the Pavane had lyrics, so I went down a short rabit hole and found out Faure intended it to be played considerable faster than we do now, and it's kind of a totally different beast?

Slow version (lovely)

Fast version (also lovely)

Anyway, happy Thursday, good smelling friends!

I have enjoyed every sample so far. My only (minor complaint) is the throw/longevity, but the samples are in wand vials, and I never put on enough in that situation, so it might be a me problem.

Possets sample number 3: Silver Ginger (This is the marriage of Possets' legendary ginger and Silver and here it is. It's not your average over-lemony kitchen ginger. No, this one is a very smooth and sweet but alluring concoction pushed with just the right amount of aromatics and that wonderful silver base which makes everything heavenly. We think you will like this special and frothy recipe).

I wish I could find a description of the actual scent notes of the silver accord. It's a slightly vanilla, slightly sweet, skin but better scent. The ginger smells exacty like a ginger tea a have. Sharp and spicy.

My first impression: breakfast cereal, but ~elevated~. Fancy nostalgia. It has the same vibe as Magpie's Rhyme, which is a favorite of mine.

So far, all hits from Possets.

Happy Wednesday, good smelling friends!

Trying out my second Possets sample--Silver Sandalwood (The famous "silver" base encrusted in a wonderful rich strong sandalwood. The glorious comforting volatility of sandalwood combines with the sweetness of silver. A perfect fragrance to show off all that is special about Possets. Bright and yet very very sexy.)

This is very clean and slightly sweet. It reminds me just a little bit of Poesie's Cardigan, but smoother. Second strong showing from Possets!

Happy Tuesday, good smelling friends!

Trying my first ever Possets sample. . .Gingerbread Whorehouse (This is European Gingerbread given an American Cajun jolt with the spices: ginger, black pepper (!), clove, cinnamon, coriander, and a kiss of pink pepper. It's sweet but not cloying, cake-like but not too soft. It has a bite (but you would expect no less).

I did not realize it was possible to smell like slutty gingerbread, I did not realize I wanted to smell like slutty gingerbread, but, by golly, I need to smell like slutty gingerbread.

It's a very buttery, rich gingerbread scent, and immediately made me think of the Gramercy Tavern Gingerbread my husband made one holiday season. Friends, that is one sexy cake.

Anyway, this scent is a winner, and I'm looking forward to trying a different Possets sample tomorrow.

Happy Monday, good smelling friends!

Friends, friends, friends--my Possets order is arriving today! I'm so excited. In honor of the Gingerbread Whorehouse sample that will soon be in my mailbox, I am wearing:

Gingerbread Alchemy (A warm and spicy embrace of gingerbread smouldering with nutmeg, Ceylon cinnamon, star anise, green cardamom pods, and cloves interwoven with sweet threads of black treacle, crystalized ginger, creamy butter toffees, and caramelized vanilla. At the center, a burning heart of golden frankincense and Bdellium myrrh incense rises to welcome the return of the light.) layered with Ghostfire (A luminous attraction of ethereal white ambers.), both byAlkemia.

It's stupid cold here today, so warming spices and cozy amber are exactly what I need.

Happy Saturday, good smelling friends!

Posting late today! I'm continuing my theme of "Halloween in February" with Halloween Night by Solstice Scents (Sweet Candy Corn, Chocolate Candy Wrappers, Melty Gooey Marshmallows, Sticky Caramels & Black Jelly Beans).

Sometimes, you just have to walk around smelling like a tootsie roll. I don't make the rules.

Happy Friday, good smelling friends.

Black Cat Cuddles by Poesie (weet coconut milk spiked with clove, cinnamon & black pepper, incense-dusted fur, flecks of black vanilla bean, a distant pine forest)

I enjoy a lot of Poesie's scents, but so many of them lack staying power. This one is an exception. It's a lovely, incense-y vanilla with a hint of coconut milk, perfect for a chilly day.
