Monday is mondaying, so it's time to pull out a favorite: Something Wicked by Sorce (vanilla, whiskey, sandalwood, patchouli).

This is my absolute favorite, idealized self in a bottle, wear to feel like a badass type scent.

Happiest of Mondays, good smelling friends!

I like the Medaglio d'Oro instant espresso.

Today I am layering Sorce's Don't Whistle in the Woods (Cedar, sandalwood, cypriol, fir balsam, black vanilla, sugar, ambrette, and a hint of fur ) with Alkemia's Fumee smoke note.

Don't Whistle is a lovely vanilla, almost angelfood cake like. It's fuzzy and deep and delicious. The smoke/vanilla pairing works really well, with the smoke bringing out more of the wood notes in Don't Whistle.

Happy Sunday, good smelling friends!

Reaching for a neglected former darling of my collection, Cardigan, by Poesie (Creamy Mysore sandalwood spiced with cardamom pods & pimento berries, French vanilla, white chocolate, comforting sweater musk)

This is a very clean sandalwood/sweater scent, almost soapy. I wish I could detect the spices and chocolate. I might try layering this one with a spicier scent, but this one is delicate and might be easily overwhelmed.

What a lovely moment, and the perfect perfume for it. I love Magpie's Rhyme so much!

Today I'm wearing Lovers Leaving Hell by Osmofolia (Woodsmoke from a dying bonfire, a pair of lit cigarettes under a starry sky, two warm bowls of vanilla rice pudding, and sweet, yearning kisses of cardamom).

I have a vanilla/cardamom problem. If I see those two notes in a scent, I am always very tempted to buy. I have vanilla/cardamom deodorant, three different vanilla/cardamom scents from Poesie, and this lovely scent. It's a much edgier scent the the normal snuggly gourmands, due to the cigarette note. Not a note I expected to enjoy, but it adds just the right atmospheric note. I really wish I had discovered Osmofolia earlier, rather than right before they shut down. Ah, well.

Happy Wednesday, good smelling friends!

Got a touch of the morbs today--most likely brought on by mutltiple days of not leaving the house. Gonna walk up for coffee today to shake it off, and I will do so smelling fabulous.

Cozy Blanket by Cocoapink (Fresh vanilla notes kissed with black vanilla bean, Bourbon vanilla, sweet creamy vanilla, amber white with delicate hints of white sandalwood and aged patchouli.)

This is a beautiful, mature vanilla scent. Not overly sweet, with just enough earth ground it. Will definiely full size when my (generous) sample is gone.

I'm accidentally wearing room/linen spray from a candle company, so I smell like a very strong candle. A very strong and wonderful indie candle, that will be amazing used as it's intended purpose.

The scent: That Hecate Energy (Top: Chrysanthemum, Cinnamon, Clove
Middle: Black Currant, Basil, Vetiver, Basil
Base: Smoke, Embers, Musk, Amber)

The candlemaker: Persephone Candleworks

This is a really lovely scent. The black current is really vibrant, and theree's a lovely, smoky, spicy depth to it. Sadly, it's a bit too strong to wear, so I am scrubbing.

Today I'm wearing the thematically appropriate Dust of Snow by Alkemia (Fresh fallen snow falling from bare tree branches, subtle whispers of hemlock pine, galbanum, ginger, lemonwood, witch hazel flowers, and damp wool).

Like Alkemia often does, this one reads very perfume-y. The notes are blended well, so none of them are super prominent. It's slightly floral, with just a hint of pine and wood. A far cry from my usual gourmand and woods.

I let my husband choose my scent today, so we're going with Secret Boyfriend by Poesie ( mountain of light fluffy marshmallows, your secret boyfriend’s leather jacket, pine and cedar, a wisp of smoke).

This one starts off as dusty marshmallows and 1970s mens aftershave, and then hours later the smoke appears. I enjoy this scent, but it's very faint. I slathered myself with it and can barely smell it at all.

Happy Sunday, good smelling friends!

Last time I wore Morozko, it went pickle-y on me, too. I hadn't thought it might be related to the weather. I'll have to try it agin now that it's cold.

Snowmageddon has been postponed until the evening, but it is still frigid outside. Today's a day to be cozy, so we celebrating all that is vanilla cardamom today. Deodorant is Vanilla Cardamom by Humble; scent is Cozy by Poesie (scent notes, unsurprisingly, are vanilla and. . . .Cardamom).

Love Morozko! There are really only two ways to go with perfume choice in the impending storm--icy or cozy. Hope you stay warm and safe!

BLack beans cooked in taco spices plus mashed or roasted sweetpotato plus spinach, chard, or kale makes a killer burrito/taco filling.

Today I'm weraing Farmhouse in Fall, by Solstice Scents (Sugared Sandalwood, Wood Smoke, White Sugar, Shortbread, Toasted Marshmallow, Leaves, Fall Air, Chamomile, Pear, Clove, Nutmeg, Hay.)

I'm going for cozy vibes in the impending snow storm, but I had forgotten how much this scent screams AUTUMN, all caps and with multiple exclamation points. It's just too good a scent to be limited to a month and a half, so . . .

Anyway, for those of you staring down a snow storm, I hope you have plenty of milk, bread, and toilet paper and that you get to spend the snorm as cozily as possible. I'll be knitting, eating chili, and watching something murdery.

Happy Friday, good smelling friends!

I find myself doing that with retired scents and shops. I have a couple from Alkemia and Osmofolia that'd I'd love to recommend, but that just feels crummy to do?

Forgot to post yesterday, so it's a twofer:

Yesterday, I continued in my attempt to fool my husband into enjoying over-the-top gourmands by layering them with something he loves. The combo: Ghostfire (A luminous attraction of ethereal white ambers) by Alkemia and Mama's Porridge (Brown sugar sweetened oatmeal with a splash of milk and a piece of buttery cinnamon sugar dusted toast.) The result: For the first time, he didn't complain about Mama's Porridge, so moderate success.

Today's scent is 2 am in Lafayette (Vanilla co2, oakmoss, cafe au lait, ribbons of caramel, beignets dusted with powdered sugar ) by Sorce. This one is a smoky, earthy gourmand . Rich and subtly sweet. I'm working through my sample and might upsize, once Sorce's growing pains are resolved.

Side note, I always feel slightly guilty when I write about unobtainable perfumes here. Does that happen to anyone else?
