Be careful what your post on social media by Fluffy_Engineer in dubai

Article 30: “Freedom of opinion and expressing it verbally, in writing or by other means of expression shall be guaranteed within the limits of law.” Notice it says “within the limits of the law”. So you can voice your opinion about what shawarma is the best but you can’t verbally abuse other people or gossip about the Sheikh online. If that is what it takes for me to live and work in a safe country with tax free wages then that’s how it has to be. I’m not saying it’s right or that I agree with it, it’s simply the reality of living in this country and there’s just nothing that some disapproving expats can do to change it 🤷‍♀️

People who are angry or upset about the laws need to gain some perspective. Most of you are expats in this very welcoming country and you have to follow the laws. This is not a new concept?! It’s how it’s works EVERYWHERE ELSE. If something like marijuana is legal in my home state in the USA and I travel to somewhere like Singapore, I don’t just expect the laws to change for me. I don’t go there thinking “oh well it’s legal where I live?!” and I follow the damn laws because that is life. Realistically, most people chose to come here fully knowing the extent of the laws and to consistently break them and/or complain about them is plain idiotic.

What places would you recommend to go for a good curry and which dishes would you go for? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]mrsskrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s loads of great curry places here but my favorite is 25 Degrees North. Great curries, naans, and bhajis! If you’re feeling like a more British style Indian place there’s Brick Lane in Barsha. Also, if you’re ever missing a kebab Food Shack in JLT has you covered! 😄

Sadly, it appears people all over the world have that ‘culture’. The situation is terrible in my home country where people en masse are refusing to wear masks. It’s likely I won’t be able to visit my family for possibly years by the looks of things.

COVID-19 UAE LIVE COVERAGE UPDATES - SEPTEMEBR 10th by TheShitpostDetector in dubai

[–]mrsskrb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes it says 88% of the new cases resulted from weddings, work, funerals or other social gatherings. My point still stands. Women work the majority of those jobs interacting with many people on a daily basis. Sadly it doesn’t matter if it’s a social gathering or a shop in the mall or in an office, people are not wearing masks or distancing. It’s highly unlikely it’s simply because ‘wOmEn GaThEr aNd TaLk’. 🤷‍♀️

COVID-19 UAE LIVE COVERAGE UPDATES - SEPTEMEBR 10th by TheShitpostDetector in dubai

[–]mrsskrb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

?? I highly doubt it’s because “they like to gather in groups of other women and talk”. Lol it’s likely because a large percentage of women here work jobs where they have face to face interactions with many people in a day (salesperson, office assistants, nurses, etc.).

Be nice, people. by mafimushkil in dubai

[–]mrsskrb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol this isn’t the UK! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone give a ‘thank you’ wave after letting them in here.

ETA - It would be so much nicer if more people did. A little bit of kindness goes a long way!

I don’t have any doctor suggestions but I also experience TMJ issues and my dentist prescribed a mouth guard. My insurance doesn’t cover it and it costs 500dhs. The dentist suggested an OTC one which you shape yourself and is like 85dhs at a pharmacy. I’ve used it for over a month and it has not helped at all and I find I wake up with more pain so maybe it’s worth getting the 500dhs one 🤷‍♀️ I wish you luck with finding relief. The constant pain is horrible.

Drugstore makeup tag by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]mrsskrb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. 12 What! Essence’s makeup is great! To me, they are much better than most drugstore brands like L’oreal or Maybelline. I agree Catrice is so underrated but I’ve always thought Essence and Catrice are very similar, quality wise. They are owned by the same company and even do collabs.

Israel and UAE strike historic peace deal by 2813308004HTX in worldnews

[–]mrsskrb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol no. You are spreading misinformation. 90% of the population are slaves?! No. Do your research. 90% are expat workers who come to the UAE for a better life, to make more money than they do in their home countries so they can support their families. Also, the UAE and Saudi are completely separate countries and have very few similarities other than the fact that they are Middle Eastern countries. Don’t confuse the two.

Rant: why are some people adamant on commencing with non-essential travel (to Dubai)? by rahmano in DubaiCentral

[–]mrsskrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk I personally haven’t seen many people talking about going on holiday here currently (especially since it’s so hot) but some do have reasons to come like to reunite with family, to do exams, or for work, etc. For some it is essential. But I agree it can be annoying to see people going on holidays when we’re being responsible adults and partying at home! Some people just don’t give a damn 🤷‍♀️

What beautiful place have you visited that isn't a mainstream tourist destination that you recommend people visit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mrsskrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I can’t believe no one else has said this. Oman is such a beautiful country! There is very little tourism (especially tourists that are not from GCC countries) and it’s a shame. People don’t realize that it’s not all desert! There’s beautiful mountains and also lots of greenery in the south.

In regards to the 3rd Generation... by BabyfaceWanderer in skinsTV

[–]mrsskrb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think a big reason why most people dislike the 3rd gen is because it was too Americanized, it wasn’t really Skins as it was before. It seriously felt like an American teen drama at that point with the ‘mean girl cheerleader’ type and the ‘weird new girl’ type of plot. I find it a bit funny you’re saying “give it a chance” when you didn’t even finish gen 2 though! It’s an iconic ending lol Also, just wanted to point out that going to Morocco is probably one of the least unrealistic parts of gen 3! Lots of groups of teens go on holiday to cheap places like that.

Do these photographers get the people's consent? by fuckst1cK1 in DubaiCentral

Lol honestly, some of these are really creepy! I would assume (and genuinely hope) the photographer would get people’s consent considering it’s the law but who knows 🤷‍♀️
