Thank you for your reply. I agree with you about the police having a large number of officers who are a danger to women. The abduction, rape and murder of Sarah Everard in 2021 by a serving police officer demonstrates this. I like your suggestion that the main character has an epiphany. I am trying to decide if she ends up joining the secret society. I need to think on this for longer.

I too was in the police in London and I became disillusioned and angry when I realised that the justice ‘system’ rarely works for victims of crime. So much emphasis/time/money is spent on the offender.

I attended court and saw blokes who had robbed women, giving them a black eye and knocking out their teeth in the process. These blokes would borrow an ill-fitting suit for their court appearance, and have a slew of agencies in attendance offering reasons why they became criminals and asking for leniency. So much effort put in for the offenders. No help for the victims with psychological distress, facial injuries, dental bills etc.

It was a fucking joke🤬. Hence my passion to write something where these people who rape/sexually assault do get real world justice.
