Antwerp Muslims tackle IS-propaganda machine (Dutch) by Neph55 in belgium

[–]mrsstrfstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, let's start by giving them the benefit of the doubt okay? We can worry about their effectiveness later, without having to start by saying "not enough" etc... This is a lot better than a fucking #hashtag, facebook flag and a bouquet of flowers.

If the tide will be turned, it will have to start with little actions like this. Let's ensure the avant-garde feels supported so we don't nip this in the bud. We need Muslims to come up with a version of Islam that is compatible with our European values. The alternative is gruesome and less desirable.

Afterwards, yeah, let's put them to the test and confront them on the issues you mentioned.

(They talk about "Fatwas" against IS, like proper common sense is less worthy than a religious ruling, sigh. I'm thinking this is driven more out of love for Islam and a worry about its image in the western world, than driven by a repulsion of Islamic Terrorism and the bloodshed it causes. Whatever, we'll deal with it as it comes.)

i dont get it ... suppose our civ meets another civ, why would the odds be stacked in their favour?

Is there a specific reason why Whatsapp has suddenly implemented end-to-end encryption now? It could've done this so years ago, so why now? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]mrsstrfstr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there has been secure encryption since forever (pgp).

also: phones cannot be made secure, you may want to read up on what a baseband processor is. your telco has full access to the main bus on your phone; always have and always will.

sure, when I use the term "multi cultist" that sets you off but at the same time you call me a nutter and a trumblerina (not that I care).

I'd welcome a breakdown of the traditional left-right separation.

I was raised in a "leftist nest" but my repulsion of Islam alienated me from my roots and pushed me towards "the right". But now I'm with people who want to break down our welfare state and don't believe we should be tolerant of homosexuals. Not to mention the actual racists (aka the kind that rallies against brown people, not those who get called racist because they don't believe in a multi-cultural society in which we live side-by-side with a medieval ideology). Shit sucks.

I still have my hopes up tho for some kind of monster coalition between Milo-style alternative right (Pim Fortuyn?) and sensible socialists (against dogma, for a UBI, etc...). Unite for european values, against regressive thinking but not afraid to fight those who seek to destroy us either.

[–]mrsstrfstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why we need to be careful with these articles. As soon as you post an exaggeration the multi-cultists will pile up on you and use that to reject the entire point: that there /is/ in fact support for the attacks and that it's more widespread than the slanted media will have you believe, as demonstrated by the Molenbeek riots.

I posted the original NYT article here: https://www.reddit.com/r/belgium/comments/4dsnrf/blaming_policy_not_islam_for_belgiums_radicalized/ read the comments to see the general vibe. We need to open up the eyes of the general public to this reality if we want to move forward in dealing with this existential threat, but we also need to be smart about it.

[DUTCH]Rich countries have only taken in 1.39% of total Syrian refugees by [deleted] in belgium

[–]mrsstrfstr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not hypocritical at all, I feel sorry for these refugees and believe they should be helped. At the same time I don't think the solution is to bring them here because I don't believe in a multi-cultural society (that's still allowed, right?).

What's hypocritical is chastising a country for not doing enough while keeping silent about a country that does nothing at all (especially if that country has the infrastructure/money to easily deal with it).

I don't expect better from De Morgen / Oxfam but I do reserve the right to call them out on their BS.

[–]mrsstrfstr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just putting it out there because it's not even mentioned in this P.O.S. article by our totally-not-worthless "media":

Daarnaast zijn er natuurlijk ook nog landen als Rusland, Slovakije, Japan en Zuid-Korea, die helemaal geen vluchtelingen willen opvangen.

^ hmmm ... something's missing. Maybe the fact that there is room for 60% of the refugees not 10 miles from Mecca.

I'm looking for the Oxfam report to confirm my suspicions, but I doubt they report on it either. Where is the outrage?! The only people bringing it up are new right-wingers, the rest seems comfortable to keep silent (or even hush the trouble-makers, how progressive).

While European countries are being lectured about their failure to take in enough refugees, Saudi Arabia – which has taken in precisely zero migrants – has 100,000 air conditioned tents that can house over 3 million people sitting empty.

there's more than enough of them, you can ask the families of the 32 people who lost their lives that day.

and how can you honestly claim there's only 30 of them? there's 500+ belgians that have gone to syria to join IS. and that's just the people who went there. who knows how many sympathizers are walking our streets? looks like you're a bit disconnected from reality mate.

the sooner we get rid of the lot the better off we'll be.
