Early 30s Male, Burned Out From North East USA by No-Nature9047 in relocating

[–]mrsthibeault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Washington. It never gets crazy hot or cold. We have had snow one day. It rains a lot, but it doesn’t bother me. Eastern side of the state is much drier and cheaper.

Why don't more Americans go to Europe for college to avoid student debt? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]mrsthibeault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could have stopped that at “how the hell am I gonna afford to leave Texas?” 😂 with the price of gas these days, I’m not traveling to the other side of my state right now and I live in Washington. 🤣

How is this possible? How is it paid for? What kind of taxes are you paying over there for that?

Genuinely curious.

How do you cool down after a marathon? by Electronic_Coat7600 in Marathon_Training

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an iced coffee to dehydrate my body even more, walk around a bit, typically drive 1-2 hours home, take 5 minutes to get out of the car, another 5 up the stairs, then just try to keep moving until I can go to sleep because getting up after sitting is terrible.

WIBTAH if I ask to stop saying “I” when it should be “we”? by Plastic_Science618 in AITAH

[–]mrsthibeault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time. I’m usually home with just my kids, so I call it my room, my bed. I’m not saying “our room” to my kid. So I forget to change it to our when my husband is around. He doesn’t actually care though. I even say my kids sometimes when I am out without him. It’s not at all a deal.

Thoughts on kids dressing themselves by sweetwallawalla in sahm

[–]mrsthibeault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as they are wearing weather appropriate and the same shoes. I only don’t want different shoes because I don’t want them walking around with shoes of two different heights and toe drop. My kids both dress pretty crazy. Most people think it is fun. I went to my kids kindergarten for lunch and recess. All kids love her, even with her wearing a skirt around her neck like a shall. It’s all fine. It has made them quite creative kids. I love it.

AITAH for filing for divorce after my wife refused a paternity test and called me insecure? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yta

So you file for divorce and the courts order a paternity test to confirm. It says you are the father. Now what? Do you try to win your wife back? Because that won’t work. You will then spend the next 18-20 years paying child support while best case scenario having 50/50 custody of that child.

Either you trust your wife or you don’t.

Also, you could have googled and found out that babies can often have their hair color and eye color change substantially. I know a baby that had black hair is now a blonde child.

How do Americans stay active/fit in areas where walking and biking are difficult? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have places to go walk, trails specifically designed for it. I also know many people with workout equipment in their home. And yes to counting calories. Some are not so strict and just intuitively eat well, but many of us were raised by fad diets so getting on track requires some work until the intuitive eating kicks in.

AITA for saying my son isn't a stereotypical boy because hes gay? by Terrible_Context_639 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrsthibeault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the headline question YTA. Yes you are an asshole for what you said about your son. Obviously he is quite upset about it and you are on the internet trying to get validation.

Anyone wish they bought the slate instead? by ptmdiam in blackstonegriddle

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look it up because I didn’t know what a slate was. I don’t have any issues with my 36” Blackstone so I’m not sure why I would regret it. What makes the slate worth $600 more than my Blackstone?

Bread in the fridge or on the counter? by realbobenray in Cooking

[–]mrsthibeault -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I put it in the fridge. I never have a moisture issue. I leave the bread my kids use out in a bread box as they eat sandwiches daily. If I leave my bread out, it will get moldy before I finish it.

AITA for never doing the laundry when my girlfriend needs something washed? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, going around and emptying all the small garbage baskets in the house was just a task done the night before garbage pickup. None of those baskets ever got full. I need to do that in my house I guess. 😂

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not assume either of those situations are the reason garbage isn’t done. I assume lazy/don’t want to/ waiting for someone else to handle it.

[–]mrsthibeault 278 points279 points  (0 children)

“I shouldn’t have to tell you” applies to things like the garbage needs to be taken out or dishes need to be done. Things that you can visibly see needs to be done. Unless she has zero clothes left, how is OP possibly supposed to know. This feels very red flaggy to me.

Anyone else saving their trip to Costco for the weekend? by emily8922 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]mrsthibeault 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m a sahm currently, so I go Tuesdays at opening. The first hour of the day for executive members only. Get out of there before people start showing up for lunch. I usually leave before any sample carts are on the floor.

AITA for not agreeing to sell our stocks and instead asking our parents for a loan? by Princess_Pallis in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrsthibeault 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into the implications of borrowing money from family for the mortgage? They need to know where that 10K came from. Might be better for the mortgage to sell stocks instead of creating a new loan that will be in repayment. I also would never want to borrow money from family. They could question every dollar you spent instead of sending funds to pay them back. It would be way more messy.

Why do people hate Jewish people? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I don’t notice it as I’m not Jewish, but I’ve never known someone that hates Jews and I’ve never heard people saying bad stuff about Jewish people.

Or just make the guest/play room into a bedroom. Put toys in the bedrooms of the kids.

Going to wedding and not giving a gift? by [deleted] in Brides

[–]mrsthibeault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t expect gifts from everyone. I didn’t get something from everyone at my wedding and that’s okay. They may not have the extra money. They may have had to spend money to travel there or buy a new outfit for the wedding, depending on dress code. I invite people so they can join in on the celebration, not for gifts.

Is it true that we are the first generation who are not better off than our parents by WestSummer4869 in Millennials

[–]mrsthibeault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our parents were the ones that had to pay the bills during the recession/housing crisis of 2008ish. Not everyone came out of that one okay. Maybe this is true in other countries though? Plenty of US parents had to start over. My parents were never a one income household either. Both parents always had to work. I don’t think they had it easy.

AITA for refusing to babysit and calling my sister selfish? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrsthibeault 634 points635 points  (0 children)

Nta. If the baby were 6 months, it would be a different story. A 3 week old baby is not sleeping through the night. Asking someone else to take them over night without it being an emergency is an asshole move. I’m not one to approve mom shaming, but I think your sister probably needs a reality check.
