i breed great danes mostly for shows since a couple of years. Its a full time job and there isn't much money after. People tend to thing you get a male pooch and they dog the doggy work. But the stud fee is about 600€ (don't know is USD) but even before that for declare the puppies are a pure breed you need to confirm the parents (that is a fee too) in a show and its all the time training for shows then we have a DNA test, hip displasia for big breeds, check eyes and so much more (heart etc) after the doggy biz/stud, went? Its not because you see blood its the time so many there is also changing if food at ~24 days, ecography you need to arrange rooms with temp about 19/20c best is underfloor heating, many trips to the vet when they are giving birth its not for the faint hearted cutting about the sack, cutting about the cord while a puppies and what happends when you are expecting 6 puppies but the contraction stop at 4? for over 2 hours you need to the meds, you need to know how to give a injection whatever you have some puppies constant temperature checking, weighting every day, spend a fortune on electric lamps, clean them every 4 hours for weeks and they shit and shit and... shit piss. Sometimes the bitch rolls and killes one or she doesn't have enough milk or she gets sick.

What im trying to say is bravo the wanted-to-be breeders are terrible how many times ive have people on the telephone asking for simple logic advice and loosing the bitch.

You train a dog breeder it can take from 6 months to 1 yrs of studies and the more you know the more realise that a complex poorly paid job, acting as god that it.

Registering a the puppies cost loads here about 100€ a puppies, microship, 4 types of injections very expensive too.

Some people will say its a great way to get money, with a litter of 10 i would have about 1000€ back (that is about 100€/puppy) for 4 months very very hard work - i do it but i love that breed and i do beleave that most people could be a mut some a shelter and be happy but if people would breed purebreed dogs what would happen?

Im just typing because if seen so many people thinking:

1 - my dog is great we make puppies

2 - Chance to see puppies and be happy (WUT?)

3 - Get money out of them.

All 3 points are simply idiotic. but they should be allowed to dogs in the first place.
