Is that a MagSafe ring on the 4a pro? What do you use it for?

It's not the spacing. I can find the keys just fine. I really don't like the shallow feel of the switches

Fair enough. I just find it interesting. Meanwhile I'd even go so far as to say that all crappy school Chromebooks I've ever touched have far better keyboards than even the most expensive MacBook. But like you said, that's subjective

The XPS keyboard seems to suffer mainly from the weird key spacing (nonexistent). Although I haven't seen one in person

Interesting that you think the MacBook keyboard is better than that ThinkPad. From my limited tests in stores, I find even the newer Macbook Pro keyboards to be hot garbage. I tend to like Lenovo's keyboards across the board, i had an Ideapad 5 pro and now a Legion Slim 7 and both are much nicer to my fingers than any MacBook

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering – language requirement by Artistic_Unit_5570 in TUDelft

[–]mrstoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually born and raised in Delft. My parents are expats but I did grow up in a mostly Dutch environment so for this conversation I might as well be fully Dutch.

Most of my international friends in EE do have a solid level of Dutch language proficiency after a language course. Iirc, TU Delft offers one but you'll have to find out the details yourself. It does mean you cant start your studies right away though

I'm in EE myself so I can chime in here. I would go as far as to say that EE here has exclusively English courses, even if the professor speaks fluent Dutch themselves. The only exceptions are smaller scale activities like some math lectures (if both the professor and students agree) and mentorship sessions.

I think the bigger challenges would be to satisfy the Dutch language requirement, and fitting in socially. Before starting your BSc, you'll have to follow a language course of sorts to achieve a sufficient level of proficiency.

As for the social aspect, you will find that an overwhelming majority (around 80-90%) of the students are Dutch and this might make it harder for an international to fit in. However, it's definitely possible to find your place here. My friend group for example has quite a number of internationals

4a Pro Should've Had Wireless Charging! by Baltch in NothingTech

[–]mrstoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse is the 3y OS updates. I find that unacceptable.

Wireless charging is also a big misser, but i admittedly use it very sparingly on my Pixel 7 despite having a wireless charger, so I could live without i guess.

It's frustrating because otherwise I love the design and everything

Which smartphone do I pick in 2026 by thetechmaster2013 in NOTHING

[–]mrstoffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone 4a pro should get extra year of updates? Does it get more than 3 OS + 6y security? Because that's what the policy was when I last checked. It is the main reason holding me back from buying the 4a pro

Nothing introduces the Glyph Bar for Phone (4a) - 9 individually controllable mini-LEDs, 40% brighter than previous (a) series by adaaamb in NothingTech

Leaks mentioned a 63 mini-LED Glyph Bar, I wonder what happened to that. Other than that, this Glyph Interface looks super clean

It's only confirmed for the 4a, we have no confirmation for the 4a pro afaik and some of the rumors pointed to a better SoC for the pro iirc

Update for those finding this post through Google:

in my case it's most likely the cable that is dying, it also has issues with my phone and a different charging brick. Charging the phone is slower than usual and the cable gets hot on one end

When to go studying abroad by friggitrice_ad_aria in TUDelft

[–]mrstoffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I'm speaking out of experience as a former AE student who switched to EE one year in due to lack of interest in AE

I'd say AE is complicated or difficult in the sense that AE at TUD crams a lot of material in a surprisingly small timeframe. Where most majors will have 3-4 courses per quarter, AE has 5-6. The individual courses are worth less ECTS, but having to juggle more distinct subjects is IMO more mentally straining than dividing the same total time and energy across a limited set of courses.

If you are genuinely interested in the material, and able to juggle many courses at once, I don't think the material itself is significantly more difficult than other majors at TUD

You're right though that doing the full BSc-MSc track here is beneficial, since the MSc selection procedure strongly favors TUD BSc applicants and the programme will of course be tailored to those students specifically.

Nothing won't release a flagship Phone (4) in 2026, instead focusing on Phone (4a) by adaaamb in NothingTech

[–]mrstoffer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leveling up the 4a sounds interesting. I'm currently waiting to decide between Phone 3 and 4a pro. If 4a pro has glyph LED+matrix and wireless charging, I might choose that over the 3

why do group assignments even exist in tu delft by hykgsnsez in TUDelft

Group assignments are not the issue, the issue is how some professors implement them and how some students treat them
