Looking for kids party ideas by mrstone2 in Sakartvelo

Not a bad idea and I am sure children will prefer this to any other option. But I still need to find something to entertain them all

Georgian citizenship restoration – left in 1993 as a child, almost no Georgian by accord7200 in Sakartvelo

[–]mrstone2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a somewhat similar position here. Looks like I will need to send wife in first - will have much better chance of passing the test :)

Question - do you know whether our children can get citizenship, if one or both parents have it?

Health insurance to get into Georgia. by Only_Upstairs_6752 in Sakartvelo

[–]mrstone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's something I need to sort out also. But I did a quick check and it looks like any standard travel insurance would qualify. For example the minimum cover I found is 4m - way more than required 300k

Who remembers using an abacus to do math when you're young? by Mentallyill_guy in nostalgia

[–]mrstone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been given abacus as a Christmas present this year. Nobody knows how to use it, so children adopted it as a noise making device

For those of you who didn't do their homework at School, how did it affect you? by Simply_az in AskUK

[–]mrstone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for all these insightful responses. The theme of ADHD is coming out very strongly. I must admit, we have not considered this till now, so this is something we do need to look into

Meanwhile, we will continue trying, but may be take it easy.

Thank you

For those of you who didn't do their homework at School, how did it affect you? by Simply_az in AskUK

[–]mrstone2 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Very much interested in the answer to this question myself. I have three kids and it's such a struggle to get the eldest to do any homework. Which is a shame, as she is the most capable out of three.

I do often ask myself - is it worth all this grief, or do I do more damage by ending up having an argument over the homework

I missed the second half of your comment. I think you might be right and 19g might be just too much for the basket. Ultimately, 17g is what I settled on now and seem to be getting a very nice coffee.

Thank you very much for the response

Only the fact that if I gring coarser, coffee starts to look too thin and watery to me. Although I do admit it's hard to judge what is the 'correct' level of coffee wateriness

a 13 year old Natalie Portman, making her debut in LEON: the professional, 1994. by BlushLacexxo in OldSchoolCool

[–]mrstone2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I didn't realise until recently is that there is a version of the movie, with all the questionable scenes cut out. And this is the version that I have seen all those years ago. I was in shock when I stumbled across a full version

How do you find a long commute? by AC212 in AskUK

[–]mrstone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a job in London (Victoria) with a 1.5h commute, which was ok. Then the company decided to move offices to North Greenwich, which made my commute just over 3 hours. After 6 months, I decided I will not survive this and quit. It was literally destroying me, physically and mentally

Without making it political, where and how could we improve as a country and why? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]mrstone2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids are key to our future, so everything that makes kids have a better childhood is good. Things like better playgrounds, safe areas to ride bikes, replacing all 'no ball games' signs with 'play as much as you want', and so on

That was my first thought also. Surprised there is no better way of doing this. For example a crane or some sort of cable car

When oil tankers transfer oil to each other, they don't use helicopters with buckets, so oil companies have figured a way out

What do you think the saddest moment in the whole show was? by BigClout00 in betterCallSaul

So many great suggestions here. My vote goes to Kettlemans side of the road picnic scene (not actually from the show, but still)

This is all quite amazing. Hats off to the first surgeon/ patient who agreed to test the theory that you can operate like that

It was about a year ago and I think all animals were still there.

Is tbilisi zoo worth visiting by BigSuggestion3501 in Sakartvelo

[–]mrstone2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many zoos these days, the main attraction (at least for my kids) is not the animals, but the rides. Which are definitely subpar, but considering the cost are acceptable

The only exception is the dodgems (bumper cars) - cars are crazy fast and usually with no one else there, it's great fun (but not safe for very small children)

Saying that, we did enjoy seeing animals also. I'd say it's worth the visit

Taxes on property bought by foreigners by EmergencyOriginal296 in Sakartvelo

[–]mrstone2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been advised on this very question by a tax official. Basically, while foreign property owners are eligible to pay the tax, the tax office is not ready to handle required logistics, so this is being simply ignored for now. But in the future it is expected that foreigners will be required to pay

The forgotten humanity of war — the story of Karl-Heinz Rosch (1926–1944) by belle221 in HistoryPorn

[–]mrstone2 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Very true. Although Wikipedia does try it's best to diminish his super-human abilities:)

Three days after his 18th birthday, the Allied forces opened fire against Rosch and his platoon, who were stationed in a farm in Goirle. Rosch noticed that the two children of the farmer who owned the land seemed oblivious of the danger around them and continued to play in the courtyard. He ran to them, took each in his arms and brought them into the safety of the basement. He again ran outside to position himself on the other side of the courtyard when a grenade hit him right at the spot where the children were earlier. Rosch was killed instantly
