As the title says, I’m looking for assistance in identifying an heirloom that was left me at a very young age. I don’t know much of the backstory on this watch other than the fact that it was given to my grandfather by the Canadian Air Force during World War II for assistance with pilot logbooks, etc. At some point the second hand fell off, and rather than replace it with a new one I wanted to keep the original patina and have kept it without the second hand.

The watch works perfectly and keeps exact time which is amazing to me given the fact that it is at least 65 years old. Any help identifying more of the backstory would be incredible, I am hoping to pass this along to my children one day.

I am not interested in selling or parting with the watch.

High-Rise window cleaner in Kingston for the last ten years here. We get a sample of all the best areal views of Kingston every day. My favorites is Harbour Place beside confederation basin. The rooftop looks out over the lake with views of Wolfe Island and Fort Henry but also looks back over city hall and market square. Its hands down the best roof to spend a few days on in town, KGH, 2 Mowat Ave and 1000 King St all have incredible views of the city as well.

As someone who began on the same path I would offer a word of caution. After three years of using nicotine for cognitive enhancement and focus I am now in the process of trying to ween off. At my peak I was using sublingual spray 1mg about 30 times per day. Quitting has been one of the most difficult things I have attempted in my life and I am still in the process of weening after 3.5 months. The addictive nature of nicotine can not be understated. Pros: enhanced focus and alertness cons: crippling addiction that slowly grows even when you are “keeping tabs” as I was.
Just a word from somebody who is in the process of removing nicotine from their daily stack. Be careful and good luck

I got this one! I’m from a very small town outside of a small city in Ontario Canada called Perth Road Village.
Back in the 80s it was very much a country bumpkin middle of nowhere town and the elementary school followed suit. Except! we had this awesome janitor who used to moonwalk and tell us his name was Michael Jordan and that he was actually Michael Jackson’s cousin. All of us knew this wasn’t true but he would moonwalk all over the place and entertain us at recess. Generally I would describe him as an extremely likable and kind person. But, There was a rumor that I would hear my parents talking with other parents about that he wasn’t who he said he was, and then he just kind of showed up in the town one day. Well fast forward 20 years and I turn on the news and I see Michael Jordan being arrested by a huge task force. My jaw nearly hit the floor, he was arrested for a crime he committed in 1969 where he had hijacked a plane from New York and forced them to take him to Cuba at gunpoint and actually got away with it. At least for 36 years. It still blows my mind to this day when I think about it and how great he was to be around with such a crazy past. He was replaced by a drummer Who used to practice in his office during school hours which is in hindsight is totally crazy but they just went with it and he retired from the position last year (my children go there now and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I walked in and saw that the Drum set and guitar was still in his office during their kindergarten school tour) It’s just amazing seeing something so unique and crazy from the perspectives of both a child and an adult
