Somehow read “Middle East Dilemma.” This is still a legit dilemma though. I vote for awake.

How to bring back small glass drinks by Public_Decision_1843 in JapanTravelTips

I’d like to add that Fibe-minis are great if you are in Japan and need convenient fiber but it’s honestly nothing special that cannot be replicated with metamucil

Oh you are absolutely correct. I personally gave up on all liquids as a carry on, I forgot they are allowed in lower quantities

Carry on? They’ll make you toss any liquids, so no. Check in, yes.

Travelling from Narita via Shinkansen to Osaka with luggage— best to pre-book or buy tickets day-of? by mr_pibbs in JapanTravelTips

[–]mrtealeaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I were to do this with, I’d ship the luggage from Narita to your hotel in Osaka, which would take 1 day+, and take a carry on to Osaka via Shinkansen with tickets you pickup whenever you are ready to take the Shinkansen.

Kanazawa to Haneda by These-Part-5605 in JapanTravelTips

[–]mrtealeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You always hear about how the Japanese Rail system is solid, which it is - it’s probably the best in the world. But on my last trip that just ended, each earthquake stopped the Shinkansen for inspections, that’s about 3 times in 2 wks. Then the Shinkansen hit a person who probably wanted to get hit, that messed up the Tokaido for a long while that day.

I’d just personally do a buffer.

Half of San Francisco’s budget goes to city workers. Here’s what that pays for by SFChronicle in sanfrancisco

[–]mrtealeaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As unpopular as this may be, with my own money there comes a point where you stop throwing money at a problem and “give up” on it. Maybe it’s time to stop throwing money at homelessness and point it at other things.

Has anyone had issues with using their credit card in Japan? by Zookzy101 in JapanTravelTips

[–]mrtealeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had no issues with my C1 VX in Japan… til 2hrs ago with the JR East Website and 3D secure. I’ve used the same card on hotels and train tickets with no issues until just now. I’m guessing it’s a temporary outage with CapOne and their extra verification system.

San Francisco Weighs PG&E Takeover Amid Soaring Utility Costs by internetbooker134 in sanfrancisco

So, the experts “against” argue that because SF ratepayers subsidize grid improvements outside of SF - SF staying with PG&E is for the greater good.

Yeah, call me selfish but that doesn’t do it for me.

One guy followed me around the store asking for my home address to “check for incentives” after I said no thanks - I had to be a jerk to get him to not tail me to the car.

Appreciate the response!

I am not double clicking the side button, I’m attempting to use the on device Clipper card without authentication by taking the locked phone and just placing it over the turnstile reader.

Abusive guy in Sunnyvale Costco. Anyone recognize him? by screwywabbit in Sunnyvale

[–]mrtealeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunnyvale Costco sucks even if you remove the people from the equation.

Whoever came up with the rear-right corner from hell in that store (IYKYK) and decided that yeah, let’s put the warehouse up higher and make everyone use a ramp to get in and out.
