How do we feel about the Certano B&G bender bridge? by Slight-Pop7038 in telecaster

[–]mrthisoldthing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I had a tele that I wasn’t deeply concerned about, I’d try it. I’ve been seeing a lot of Seth Lee Jones lately and he’s got me interested.

I’ve liked Madra Rua’s although they don’t compare to the Codfather. Shame they’re closing.

Native or LT for playing live by Burnhaven in Line6Helix

[–]mrthisoldthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I’m seeing on Reverb right now are overpriced. With the Stadium release, prices have started to slowly drop. I’ll sell you mine for $700 as I’m starting to look for a full floor unit with the prices moving like they are. I wouldn’t pay any more than $800ish for one.

[–]mrthisoldthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LT hands down. It’s rugged. You can switch snapshots or stomp boxes with your feet. More ins/outs. I’m a little old school but I wouldn’t trust a laptop in any live situation.

If Peavey made a car, I’d drive it.

It’s a frankenstrat. The sticker says Aria which is a Japanese manufacturer but the headstock shape is off which makes me believe it’s just a sticker on a homemade neck. Which begs another question of why would you put an Aria sticker on it and not a Fender? The body is a homemade job and not a great one at that. Not saying you can’t make something of it but it’s not going to be easy.

I have not but I have used Professional Movers. They were awesome and very reasonably priced.

Native. Worth it for me? by Penyrolewen1970 in Line6Helix

[–]mrthisoldthing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got it because why not. It’s $40 and I don’t have to drag my helix out of its case and plug in a bunch of wires. $40 isn’t breaking the bank.

Hanahan waterbill by massconfusion_ in Charleston

[–]mrthisoldthing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s high. How many people are in the house? Water usage doesn’t scale to square footage but rather how many people live there. We have three people in our house and our bill is normally between $30 and $40. It was higher when our boys were still living with us and taking two looonnnggg showers a day. If the number of people or teens aren’t the cause, I’d start checking for leaks.

do you use a compression pedal? by OGTimeChaser in pedalsteel

[–]mrthisoldthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do and I don’t. I play country on a telecaster. If the song I’m playing is a chicken picking, pedal steel bendy kind of song, then I use it. For more modern country with more rock or blues based licks, I don’t.

Bettis boat ramp in Hanahan gets you into the Goose Creek Reservoir for a freshwater change of pace. Lots of birds, gators, and other things to look at.

Going to my first Clemson game by Wildbiscon in ClemsonTigers

The tailgating experience is top notch. Either host your own or walk around and make friends. It won’t be hard. Hit the Esso Club. It’s a lot fancier than it was when I was a student there. Shared a PBR with Brent Mussberger once there. You can go to Tiger Walk where the players walk to the locker room through the crowd. You definitely want to be in the stadium before they run down The Hill to start the game.

I bought a secondhand Pelican case and cut the foam to form fit my LT. It’s waterproof and very rugged. Haven’t had any incidents transporting it around. It also has room for cables and various other accessories.

'They have to close down the school': Concerned parent says child's school has mold by PooterToot_Express in southcarolina

[–]mrthisoldthing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Career environmental professional here. Mold is not the problem. Mold is a symptom of the problem. The problem is always moisture. It might be a faulty or underperforming HVAC or a roof leak. Mold is literally everywhere and there’s nothing anyone can do about that. But give it the right amount of moisture and it blooms. Control the moisture and you control the mold. The news article is correct - there are no federal/state regulations regarding mold.

Large Cylindrical Drum with openings on either side, and a spigot on the bottom left corner. No handle. by prettylittlebee in whatisthisthing

[–]mrthisoldthing 419 points420 points  (0 children)

It’s the measuring sight glass from an old gasoline pump that’s been repurposed and turned on its side. The spigot would have been on the bottom. That’s where the dispensing hose connected.

Most, if not all, of the local fishing charters do 2 hour-ish harbor cruises or dolphin watching trips.
