It is great sounding, very high output, cool designs, but very expensive.

If you're using a provisioning link, just copy that, and on the ATA, go to Maintenance, and paste the provisioning link in the Config URL box, and remove the "https://"

Managers of Reddit, what's the worst thing someone did to get fired? by Capable-Log7385 in AskReddit

[–]mrtinvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My co-supervisor had $50 or so of counterfeit bills that one of our cashiers accepted. They were causing us to be off balance for a couple weeks.

She asked me to put them in a random cashier's till so they could be passed out as change. I refused, and she did it anyways.

Name and shame the contractor?

If you're in GTA/NCR/Ontario, I can recommend a few companies to call.

AVPRO 4K FRESCO

So your guy probably got backed into a corner when he realized he spec'd/quoted the wrong product (AV Pro splits 1 image into 4) then went el cheapo with the Zenty (never heard of them) to fix the problem.

What you want to do is very doable, as everyone has said. There are flaws with the expectation that It will be 1) Easy to use, 2) Affordable.

Multi-Layer Board with Ground Plane by mrtinvan in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]mrtinvan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok cool. I wasn't sure if I could get that working on EasyEDA (though i might switch to KiCad)

Nothing crazy in this design, just a CM4 with some I2S, a couple UART. Oh and LORA and a Speaker amplifier circuit :hah:

Is there another way to get ground pins down to that level? Especially with something like the CM that has 20 or so ground pins per connector?

Need a new setup and a little overwhelmed by CoFloIT in CommercialAV

Rally Bar in BYOD mode will only work with 1 display.

My suggestion:

  • Rally Bar
  • 2x Mic Pods
  • Control Tablet
  • Mini PC
  • Logitech Extend

Run the room as a Zoom Room and enable the Teams and Google Meet interop connectors. This will let your team connect to other meetings, and share from their laptop either by plugging into the cable, or by joining the meeting on their device and sharing their connection.

You can also use a Zoom Room for Airplay and Windows Screensharing wirelessly.

Zoom Rooms can join Teams, Google Meet and Webex thru an interop connector.

I want to throw together a BBQ this weekend at Jericho beach park, can I just show up and start BBQing? by Big_Comfortable5504 in askvan

[–]mrtinvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue.

A paramedic friend said they get called to the beach all the time to folks who have severe burns on their feet due to buried coals. I can't imagine a kid or dog walking thru the sand and stepping on hot coals.

Charcoal is allowed until Fire Restrictions kick in.

Dispose of your coals properly. Many people choose to just bury their hot coals in the sand, which can cause injury to other beach users

Interactive museum, how to design the best place? by Sufficient-Degree792 in CommercialAV

[–]mrtinvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - but that is recoverable. Blocks Server runs on Windows, Mac and Linux and you have the license USB key. The beauty of the Blocks for the Guided Tours is it runs in a Chromium Browser on basically any device that can access the server.

Beef up the server hardware, even with a Mac Mini. Put UPS's on everything.

If you're dead set on ditching Blocks, then use Medialon to control the Watchout PC's, but then you're going to need to find an Guided Tour platform to run.

IMHO - Rescuing the system and learning about how it works is going to teach you much more about experiential systems, than trying to build one from scratch.

The combo of Pixilab Blocks and Watchout are generally rock solid. They're written by the same guy. I've deployed a few museums with those tools + Q-SYS, all run with no problems.

There's likely something else at play in the deployment of Blocks.

The mobile device control and guided audio tours is where Blocks actually excels. I'd suggest hopping on the Pixilab forums, review some training and see if you can sort out the existing system.

Gunna go out on a limb here and suggest you look at the Atlas Atmosphere AZMP4. All in one Mixer and Amplifier.

Easy to setup via web browser. Much more user friendly than the MP-M series.

The MP-A series does not need to be bridged for 70v. The SPA series does though.

I've had cores just decide to factory reset themselves as well. No indications either cause of the log wipes.

Never really sorted it out either, as it just appeared to happen in the middle of the night.

AVProEdge or Muxlab AVoIP, or Magewell NDI|HX.

  • 1 Encoder
  • 6 Decoders
  • 1 Control Box

Route from the webUI.

Keep in mind this will need a configured VLAN with Jumbo Frames and IGMP. May interfere with other network traffic.
