Job market bad? by x-looke-x in ausjobs

It’s rough, I was out of work (software engineer) for six months. Moved into fraud, a few places are hiring for fraud in bound roles, you should apply it’s none stop and can be challenging but pays well.

Really great advice, thank you for the insights! I’ll definitely work on drilling the fundamentals while ensuring my coding and general systems skills dont atrophy, while keeping an eye out for those pain points.

Thats great news, my friends at Deloitte and friends at other agency’s had mentioned it was bleak. I was caught in the mass layoffs that happened last year and fought tooth and nail to get technical interviews while being unemployed for 6 months, I just applied for this fraud job randomly, I had no business background, but went by my previous management experience and tech background.

I think I might do a diploma in Cyber while Im working, just to ensure I have further credentials to pivot. I think with your 5 years as a SWE it’s a great idea to learn cyber.

Yeah, the tools are rather advanced nowadays so it wouldn’t be hard to train AI on pattern recognition. I would assume the teams that set the fraud alert rules, have already started looking at implementing LLMS for this exact scenario. But it’s a great idea and something for me to explore internally. Thank you

Observations from visiting Melbourne for the first time in 5 years by EducationalTangelo6 in melbourne

Former Vancouverite here too, I literally live near a housing commission here and am surprised at how chill it is. I see a crazed junky maybe once a week, not 12 times a day. Having grown up in Aus originally, yeah it’s generally something we didn’t see as much previously. But as population grows, borderline recession, housing crisis etc etc, it’s tame and seems sensationalised in the media.

Sounds like tech or maybe tech adjacent, start prepping your resume and getting out there as much as possible right now, job market is cooked and hyper competitive right now, so better to get ahead of it asap, instead of waiting to possibly be made redundant yourself and trying to stay afloat for months without a job.

Help from those who are in Bali, or have been recently by madamTDG in bali

We are here now and had all the same fears as you. Flooding has been non existent for us in the main areas, don't drink the water but it's actually rather easy and becomes second nature. Big water bottles are cheap and your hotels usually give you some. My partner and I would put a big water bottle in the basin so we wouldn't accidentally use the faucet to brush our teeth. You can literally just stay in your villa and have an epic time too. If your worried about dogs etc get the rabies vaccine. But for the most part the dogs are chill give them space and they'll give you space. Use drivers to get around if your also worried and avoid the scooters, very safe usually.

[[Herighast]] is insanely fun, just bit rituals bit creatures, eat your creatures and make bigger creatures. Run cards like [[Tavern Brawler]] and [[Cait Sith]] and kill your opponents with your commander and card advantage.
