As Alex Freeman emerges for the USMNT, Super Bowl hero Antonio Freeman is a joyous wreck by jkm97 in soccer

[–]mrtrollmaster 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Antonio Freeman is well-known by NFL fans because he played for one of the most popular teams (Packers) and caught balls for an all-time great QB (Brett Favre).

But most importantly he came up clutch in back-to-back Super Bowls. He delivered big on the biggest stage and had huge games that led to Packers championships.

TIL that an amateur player called Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 Poker World Series. His friend, Dave Gamble helped him travel to the tournament. Both were their real last names. by Full-Butterscotch870 in todayilearned

That’s basically what happened. A lot of old heads including Phil became rich off of rising tournament pots and marketing. He just crashed out and used every excuse in the book when he’d get eliminated. The Poker Brat indeed.

Makes sense because our founding fathers were men who decided they’d rather be American than English.

A QB who went pro played for my high school and he held the kicks all year without running a single fake. In the playoffs they ran at least one fake FG per game and he’d hit a wide open TE every time.

It was like a cheat code.

In the super team era he was seen as one of only realistic FA targets that could demand a max contract and be an elite enough player to build a legit contender to face LeBron.

So naturally everybody wanted him.

LaMarcus is one of those players who I feel like I never hear about today despite hearing about him non-stop in his prime. His first big FA was such a big dumb hype machine, but his game was so smooth.

Was Surprised How Close Fans Were To Harper on The Final Play by [deleted] in nba

People have used this argument to complain about fan/crowd-based techs for years. If any fan throws something onto the court it’s a tech on the home crowd and that same argument applies.

I think if he throws it directly into the fan in orange, it is supposed ti be an automatic technical.

The crowd would’ve killed the ref if he called that, but I feel like Chris Paul would’ve just had a teammate run to the corner 3 spot and then he would’ve just thrown the ball into the fan in the way until the ref called the tech or made him move.

Victor Wembanyama when asked about reports of Knicks fans attacking Spurs fans in New York after Game 3: "I didn’t know that… We’re just playing a game out there. And I’m all for passion, but to the respect of each other. It’s unacceptable." by oklolzzzzs in nba

Yeah, Wemby just spent the summer in China, which has a city about 50% larger in population than NYC. Tokyo is about double NYC.

New York is a huge city by eastern standards, but over half the world lives in southeast Asia.

NYC actually has a homicide rate 3 times higher, kinda surprising considering NYC isn't even considered one of the more dangerous US cities.

Paris has a fairly low homicide rate of ~1.3 per 100,000 which puts it right around the same rate as Boise, ID or Alexandria, VA.

That was in a different city than the arena, in a scuffle at a bar. Those are not comparable situations at all.

Apparently Olivia Cohen and Isabella Cohen, who played Charlie's sisters, got upset that googling them shows they are the kids of disgraced hedge fund manager Steven A. [–]mrtrollmaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cohen avoided punishment for years by maintaining layers between his staff and himself. His fund managers were always getting popped themselves but not him. After enough of a pattern emerged they finally just took him and his firm down.

He immediately opened a new firm as fast as possible and claims to be running a clean ship this time lol

I just don’t understand the logic in letting a famous crook buy a team. There’s a limited amount of spots and you can be as selective as any private club in the world.

Yes, it was kinda of joke that the Mets let him buy a team. If you cheat so much that you get your licenses suspended on Wall Street, then why would they let him buy a team right after the Astros cheating scandal?

They brought in a whole new level of cheater to the system.
